Sunday morning in Taiwan, a minor earthquake of magnitude 6.5 struck at around 5:00 AM in the ocean off the Eastern coast of the island, according to its local meteorologists.
The China Earthquake Networks Center in Beijing reported that it was a magnitude 5.9 quake, however, and that its epicenter was 50 km below the surface. Nevertheless, the tremors could be felt throughout Taiwan.
In any case, SMTOWN Taiwan had occurred on June 9th, the day before the earthquake. However, there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, so it seems that the earthquake was relatively minor.
