According to the production team on July 12th, “We have all decided to extend two more episodes. We felt it was the right thing to do to finalize the story for completion.”
The “Dr. Jin” cast is also excited for the news, but still believe that the show is too short. Song Seung Hun, who plays the main character ‘Dr. Jin Hyuk’ was reported saying, “20 episodes is not enough to express the variety of a historical [drama]” and Lee Bum Soo, who plays ‘Lee Ha Eung’ stated, “It would’ve been better if it was 40 episodes and not 20. This drama is too short.”
Nonetheless, adding two more episodes will at least give them a little more time to wrap up the story. “Dr. Jin” was originally supposed to end on July 29th, but now it will end at the beginning of August.
As for those that believe they are trying not to end at the same time as SBS‘ “A Gentleman’s Dignity“, the producers have commented, “it may seem like we are aiming for the absence of ‘A Gentleman’s Dignity’, but that is not so.”
So happy that they’ve added two more episodes! I am really enjoying the show and really don’t want it to end…
