Fans of T-ara have been reeling from the shock of Hwayoung’s abrupt contract termination with CCM, news that was the major announcement that CCM’s CEO Kim Kwang Soo planned to reveal on the 30th.

Confused as to what led up to these turn of events? Here’s a quick rundown:
- Hwayoung injured her ankle, causing her not to be able to perform with the rest of T-ara during their Japanese Budokan concert.
- A string of tweets from Hyomin, Eunjung, Jiyeon, Soyeon, and Boram about determination, dedication, and taking care about the people around seemed to be indirectly pointed at Hwayoung.
- Hwayoung also tweeted, “Sometimes, even determination alone is not enough. At times like these, I feel upset but I trust that it’s a blessing in disguise from the heavens. God, you know everything right?”
- The tweets were deleted, but they were screencapped by netizens, and speculation arose on whether the members were bullying Hwayoung or not. There were those that said that Hwayoung was being bullied, but others said that the girls were simply stating that they needed to be determined to become even better. (More on this latter part.)
- To make matters even worse, CCM announced that the girls’ Twitters had been hacked and that there would be a major announcement on the 30th.

This major announcement left fans worried: was it going to be a break-up of the group? Would new members be added? Would a member or two be kicked out? Or was all this worrying for naught, that this was just all a big publicity stunt for their upcoming release? Unfortunately for fans, it was heartbreaking to discover that Hwayoung’s contract became nullified with no strings attached - she became a free agent/artist. At the voting of 19 managers, staff members, and make-up artists. (In deference to the complaints by T-ara’s staff of 19 people (5 stylists, 7 hair & makeup, 5 on-site managers, 2 team mangers), Hwayoung’s contract as an artist will be voided effective immediately with no conditions.)

What?

To make matters even worse, the press release stated that Hwayoung was not bullied and that the T-ara members didn’t want her to be ‘kicked out’, that they wanted to protect Hwayoung from injuring herself even more, even though Hwayoung herself wanted to appear on stage. After the press release was made, Kim Kwang Soo was interviewed about this all and he mentioned two key things that should very well be a shot to the foot: “I can’t reveal everything. It’s the least amount of courtesy for the departing member. Please think carefully about who will be hurt if the truth is revealed.” and “I hope this issue is not inflated any further, (Hwayoung) I hope you stay quiet.

Wait, what did I just read?

Oh, let’s not forget to add that after this interview, reports came pouring in about how Hwayoung’s ‘dark side’, so to speak, was emerging. Things like how Hwayoung acted like a ‘top star’ and not like a maknae; how she refused to go up on stage for Music Bank even though she rehearsed sitting in a chair and made Hyomin and Eunjung have to memorize her rap in a short time, resulting in a mistake; how Hwayoung acted like a diva and threw her crutches down after leaving Music Bank, in plain view of fans and the press and sat down. And after just revealing a little bit of her ‘unruly behavior’, Kim Kwang Soo commented, “We will not be revealing any more of Hwayoung’s similar behaviors outside of the ‘Music Bank’ incident because we do want to protect her. I am also sorrowed by the words left on Hwayoung’s Twitter.”

Huh?

How is that protecting her? She’s just been kicked out of the group, her contract nullified, her sister still in CCM, and it hasn’t even been a full day and already, the company is painting her in a bad light while trying to portray the rest of T-ara as victims of Hwayoung’s ‘unruly behavior’. I’m sorry, but this isn’t really making any sense.

First off, if the rest of the members weren’t bullying Hwayoung through Twitter and were really just talking about being determined in getting better, they wouldn’t have deleted their tweets. Because they deleted their tweets, something fishy was definitely going on. Second of all, we don’t know both sides of the stories, only what CCM and Kim Kwang Soo have announced. But even so, the story has been changing so much it’s hard to believe what is fact and what is fiction.

And what’s even more interesting is what happened at Music Bank. With two groups left to go before T-ara’s performance, Hwayoung supposedly chose to sit out of the performance, leaving Hyomin and Eunjung in a very undesirable position of learning the rap. Learning the rap in such a situation is not the most ideal and in such a pressure-filled situation, it can definitely lead to bad results. At the same time, having practiced the song many times and rehearsed it many times, one should be able to know the lyrics almost by heart. I’ve seen it when groups perform - one member will be singing his/her solo lines and when the camera pans to other members, you’ll see those members mouthing the words. So, okay, fine, maybe Hwayoung was in the wrong for that or maybe CCM just fabricated a story to make Hwayoung look bad when the agency could have forced Hwayoung to sit out and put Hyomin and Eunjung in those positions. We don’t know.

But the part where Hwayoung threw down her crutches in front of fans and the press members after Music Bank? Where were the articles for that? Did it really happen? And if so, were those fans and press members told/paid off to not write anything about that? Just how much of that is truth and how much of that is lies? Ok, actually, how much of this can fans really believe? And from the looks of it, fans are calling this all a load of crap and nonsense (to put it lightly).

I personally don’t think much of this adds up. It just doesn’t really make sense and with the story changing with every report, it’s hard to believe anything at this stage. And considering that Hwayoung is no longer with the company, she has every right to talk about her side of the story, despite that veiled threat from the CEO. That is totally wrong, trying to shut her up by revealing these ’stories’. And of course, the T-ara members won’t say a thing (or not much) because the company has probably forced them not to say anything, meaning we won’t get much of both sides of a story, because, really, you can’t have a story without hearing from the two sides where it matters most.

Hwayoung may not be the best rapper, but from what I saw, she was the strongest rapper in T-ara and she has potential for much growth. So yes, her departure from T-ara is for the better, if she was indeed being bullied and this voided contract with no strings attached is the easiest to find a better company without the messes of a lawsuit. Of course, the situation would change if indeed Hwayoung was the troublemaker, but considering the fact that she tweeted “facts without truth” after the announcement, it’s probably safe to say that she has been wronged in this ’scandal’.

And, here’s a gem of news: T-ara will still go ahead with their comeback with Sexy Love as scheduled. Oh, it couldn’t get much better than this at all.

What are your thoughts to this all? Hwayoung’s departure, for better or for worse? Voice your opinions below!

this is what i called failed management HASNT CCM LEARNED FROM SM YET UGH!! i hate when this happens to groups and their members and i hate how NO ONE outside of the group and the management knows what actually happened !!! so frustrating!!!

The Sexy Love comeback will be a waste of money. If people are boycotting the products they endorse, who the heck will buy their album?

I’m upset that she’ll no longer be with T-ara. But she’s being hurt there. Its better for her but not for T-ara. They lost a pretty good rapper.

It’s just so hard to know what to believe now :/ I’m not sure if T-ara as a whole is able to carry on let alone without Hwayoung :O

don’t know which one is better,,
but i know for sure, even Hwayoung get out from T-ara or remain still, the public already knew what happened with them..
i don’t think that netizen will respect them again..
i think they already gained many antifans..

Wooot great summary~ confused with this story.

I really don’t know what to believe anymore…
But I hardly believe that the CEO of CCM have Hwayoung’s best interest in mind or are trying to protect her...mad

the CEO is just mess up. i knew it when the moment he decided n started his T-ara is so lazy thing so we gonna ddin 2 members for more competition. i hope he is happy with this “intense” competition that leads to T-ara downfall. many of T-ara fans(including my self) is very dissapointed n felt very betrayed

this issue will continue on if they all don’t stop saying sh*t about each other. i just hope hwayoung is okay and it is definitely great for her to have left the group if the reports of bullying were true. as for their money loving b*tch CEO, i hope he learns a lesson from this. after all, this seems to be all his fault.

Well, I wasn’t much of a fan before this and this proves why.  I have never seen another girl group with this much controversy.  Even when it seemed like KARA was disbanding, it was all speculation of what the parents wanted.  Even the girls didn’t know what was going on.  T-ara has by far the most controversy yet.

nice post =)

she is the stronger rapper.

i think its for the best...because lets face it CCM isn’t really a good company...if thier throwing all this shit at hwayoung..then what about the other members...and i read something that hwayoungs ‘nip-slip’ a couple months ago was a publicity stunt..if the company willing to go throught so much work, and hurt hwayoung so much, just to protect the others members...its better that she left...and thats not even including the bullying from the other members...there was a post from a backup dancer that during the roly poly practises hwayoung messed up and ji yeon slapped her and started yelling at her to do better and work harder…

what’s done is done. most groups, no matter how tragic the loss tend to do well even after the split. smileI’m not going to waste my time trying to figure out they’re up to. -_-

I think it’s for the best. This is all really sad. Just...sucks.

I think it was for the best… they need less drama but their fans are leaving them like no tomorrow as well… either way it’s a loss.

Leaving is for Hwayoung’s own good. If the T-ara members were bullying her and disliked her, leaving will make her happier. I am extremely disappointed in T-ara. I loved them. They were my all-time favorite girl group. If they weren’t bullying her, and only encouraging her to be more determined for performing, they would not have deleted the tweets. It is truly a disappointment to see them bully their own member. I hope the best for Hwayoung.

It’s better for her if she left

I’m not sure if she’s getting bullied or not. I read on tumblr that a former dancer said they were bullying Hwayoung before that. I guess it’s better for her to leave since she’s getting bullied.

She should leave since it’s obvious she and the other members don’t get along. I think that she is better off going solo or joining another group. I never thought that Hwayoung’s voice fitted with the group.

Perhaps it’s best she left. Less drama to deal with.

it’s not that i take the same side of the other members but,, how can u people judge a group so badly i mean as u all say ¨do u have proof¨ that the other members bullied her i mean i’m truly positive that not only t-ara but most of the other k-pop group had also have a fight, jealousy and some have this diva kind of person in their group!! i mean really the only thing that made t-ara different from those group was that it led to this point that 1 of them “got kicked out”,, and HOW could u possibly think that it’s all their fault that hwayoung got kicked out i mean they clearly said that it was the staff member who voted for her not to join the group anymore,, and she must have done something wrong if most of the staff “didn’t like her” or want her out,, and how can u be sure that it was the t-ara members who deleted their tweet accounts??  I mean their manager probably did it,, and if they did bully hwayoung how can they do it so obvious that even us fans can see it,, i think that ur just being too sensitive,, i mean sure I’m heart broken that she’s leaving but why blame the others who might be innocent!! for i’ll probably be cheering for both side hwayoung will be missed in t-ara that i know,, but i’ll still cheer for both of their success!!

honestly, i can argue for both sides here - hwayoung and CCM.
but in all honesty, i cant emphasize how much we >>DON’T<< know everything. everything is still so very vague and weird, and we cant make proper judgement out of anything.. -____-
but if hwayoung DID do all of this stuff like having a sour attitude, we’re gonna need proof first.
As for CCM and the rest of T-ara, they have a reason to be defended too. Although this is a very disappointing controversy right now, fans cant just do stuff like what they did to eunjung - demanding to take out her roles. do those fans know everything yet? no.
all of us - fans and lets say passer-bys - are all on square one. we dont know everything! only the surface story! >>WHO KNOWS WHAT THEYRE HIDING?<< u___u no one has the right to point fingers yet.
i seriously think this is just a way of getting publicity. Cus if it is, it is SERIOUSLY working on me. before you know it, they might just pull everything off and say “haha, jk guys. hwayoung’s back.”
CCM has never been a trusty industry to me, i dont know about you guys. From hacked Twitter accounts to throwing crutches, who knows what CCM will say next? -___-

definitally worse for the company considering the after math for them isn’t so great. people left their fanclub, concert tickets being returned, and the entire group/company isnt looking too good in the public eye considering this really isnt the first time a member was pulled out a group for being bullied from CMM.
but for hwayoung i hope she will find a better oppurtunity somewhere, she deserves better

for bettur , she ccan do better , taras gonna go downhill
