The most recent work of Choi Jeong Hwa, that has been called ‘Cosmos‘, has been put on display at the Kyiv Biennale in Ukraine.
Previously Choi Jeong Hwa has decorated the 2008 Seoul Olympic Stadium with pieces of plastic garbage, that were collected and brought in by 10 million citizens.
Hwa is known best for his over-the-top and extravagant pieces of artwork, and the ability to create vibrant large-scale installations by assembling everyday objects.
At first glance it seems like the building is decked out by hanging beads, but if you look closely you’ll see that Hwa has masterfully hung strings of colorful plastic balls, connecting chains and knitted flowers.
Underneath the the artwork there are rows of Hwa’s costum designed Low Seating Tables where visitors can sit underneath the festive and colorful ceiling.
