There are many idols in the KPOP world who can speak English that don’t necessarily come from the U.S. Therefore, here are 7 idols who do come from the U.S and to a certain extent, represent where they’re from besides Korea.
DBSK’s Yoochun
Dandy boy Park Yoochun. All DBSK fans know that when SM Entertainment was still forming the group, they scouted him away from Brothers Entertainment and flew him in to Korea all the way from Virginia. Since he came to the U.S when he was young, although not fluent, he knows quite an amount of English so he is the star English speaker in the group!
SNSD’s Jessica and Tiffany
Jessica, the ice princess in the group. Born and raised in San Francisco, it’s only natural that she’s fluent in English! A delight to all Soshi’s. Why? Because it is easier to communicate and relate with her.
As for Tiffany, she’s not much different than Jessica, in the English department at least! Born in Diamond Bar, California, her bright personality also allows plenty of access to herself and the group, which brings about much fan service and communication with the girls that not all fans can get with other idol groups.
f(x)’s Krystal and Amber
Krystal, Jessica’s little sister! She’s her other half that also represents the San Francisco vibe. With her very forward personality, fans have heard her speak in English plenty of times when doing activities abroad. The same goes for Amber, who doesn’t stray behind since she was also born in California. Given she isn’t Korean, she is a KPOP idol after all so she counts!
After School’s Bekah
Although now an ex-member, Bekah was born and raised in Hawaii. When she was introduced into the group, she was the only one who could fluently communicate with fans and she did so extensively through other social networks like tumblr and twitter. Her constant updates allowed many fans to closely take a peek into her personal life as well as the group without waiting for translations, which is rare in other groups.
2NE1’s Park Bom
If we were talking about English skill, then Dara would be on the list. However, having moved to the U.S at a young age to study abroad, Bom was able to graduate high school and even attended college here in the states. Although she doesn’t sound very fluent, her English is pretty understandable, although, she doesn’t use it much to her advantage; sadly for the fans.
There you have it! Alot of California love being represented here. What other KPOP idols can our readers think of to add on to this list?
