KARA recently went on a guerilla date in Gangnam for KBS‘ “Entertainment Relay” and revealed the difficulties of being female idols.

During the show, Nicole revealed, “While preparing for the comeback for our latest album, Gyuri unnie and I frequently expressed how difficult it is to live as female idol[s]. It’s very difficult to manage yourself [to maintain a good image].”

Gyuri chimed in and said, “Although we get envied as we are a female idol group, we’re also the target of many criticisms which makes our position very difficult. It was especially hard when we were undergoing an intense diet. If I weren’t a member of KARA, I probably would’ve become a blogger and eat all I want while posting about the best restaurants.”

However, it seems she changed her mind pretty quickly though as she then stated, “If I were to be born again, I want to become a male idol singer” causing the room to fill with laughter.

I don’t think I could ever be an idol just because of the diets they are on. I like my food! What do you think? Could you live the life of a female idol?

Hmm. It would be hard being a female idol. Many people are picky about looks and such. Male idols get a lot of support. I would want to be a male idol… LOL.


Critics can be so touch on female idols and it sucks. She’s right, I’d rather be a male idol XD

If I had a lot of adoring fans that outweighed the negative criticisms I get, it would be worth it.  But if I get so much negative comments, then I wouldn’t be able to live as a female idol.


I don’t think I’ll be able to survive the life of a female idol. It takes a lot of discipline and hard work to be one. Plus there’s the thing with the diet. Haha. XD
