Known for his handsome looks as well as position as leading KPOP artist in the Hallyu wave, Kim Hyun Joong’s popularity has spread over to Japan where he is the first KPOP artist to have sold over 200,000 copies of his second Japanese single album, “Heat”, this year. The album was released back in July and the current count sold so far is 200,580 according to Oricon.
Sales of Kim Hyun Joong’s album have even outpaced the likes of other very popular KPOP groups such as TVXQ (whose “Android” single has sold around 175,000 copies since July) and Super Junior (whose “Opera” single has sold around 184,000 copies since May).
“Heat” has also had work put in by popular Japanese artist B’Z. Previously, a representative in Japan has commented, “The response for Kim Hyun Joong’s album ‘Heat’ is explosive. Kim Hyun Joong’s Japanese popularity and the high quality producing of ‘B’Z’ have created a great synergy. We believe this is the reason for the success of ‘Heat.’”
