Historical Korean drama “Jewel In The Palace“/”Dae Jang Geum” aired back in 2003, and received mega popularity and success. Lead actress Lee Youngae and actor Ji Jinhee were skyrocketed to international fame as a result. Well, MBC has announced that they will be producing a sequel next year!

This drama takes place in the Joseon Dynasty, and tells the true story of Jang Geum, the first woman to become the royal physician for the king. It puts a high emphasis on Korean culture, royal cuisine, and traditional medicine.

This drama was aired in 87 countries from Asia, Europe, and Africa. MBC gained 12 billion won in profit from broadcast rights over the years. Now, MBC has announced that they’ll be producing a sequel with support and investment from Hunan Satellite Broadcast in China.

I remember a few years back when this aired, so many people developed an interest for Korean culture! It was crazy, and definitely helped spread the hallyu wave. There is no news of the cast, director, or writers, but I’m so excited! Are you excited for the sequel?

i hope its as good as the original one. Its the first drama I ever watched and my all time favorite drama for life.
