Unfortunately in the KPOP industry, having a fair distribution of song parts doesn’t apply to all idol groups. Some members don’t get that much lines and get less attention because they are rarely on camera during performances.

This case may happen if a group has many members, but also if the company particularly gives more spotlight to one member than the others. Not being a main or lead singer doesn’t necessarily mean that they should sing much less than the others, don’t you think? Check out these ten idols who I think should get more lines in their groups.

4minute Jihyun

Jihyun is the leader of 4minute, but unfortunately some people don’t even know this as she seems to have the least attention in the group. She is not the best singer in 4minute but I think she still deserves more lines. She also needs more screen time so people would realize how pretty she is.

After School’s E-Young

It has been almost two years since E-Young joined After School, but she still doesn’t get that many lines. Nana is a good singer, but I think E-Young also has a good, clear, and powerful voice. Since she is one of the newer members of the group, she needs more screen time to get well-known. This also applies to the latest member addition, Gaeun.

BtoB’s Peniel

BtoB has recently made a comeback with their new mini album ‘Press Play.’ While the mini album gets positive feedback from the fans, some are disappointed because Peniel yet again didn’t get that many lines in their songs.

SISTAR’s Dasom

I enjoy listening to SISTAR’s songs, but unfortunately Dasom often gets only a few singing parts compared to the others. It’s true that Hyorin is the best singer in the group, but I think it’s finally time to give more spotlight to the other members as well.

SNSD’s Hyoyeon

It’s true that Hyoyeon is not a lead singer of SNSD, but I think SM should at least give her more lines. In a group of nine members, they would already get only a few lines even with a fair distribution of song parts anyway, but unfortunately sometimes they get even less than that.

Super Junior’s Shindong

I felt sorry for Shindong when he talked about his lines in Super Junior’s songs: In Sorry Sorry ‘Ddan, ddan, ddan, ddada dda ddaranddan,’ in Bonamana ‘Ddanddaranddan ddan, ddaranddan.’ Shindong’s rapping is decent, so why doesn’t SM give him more proper lines?

T-ara’s Qri and Boram

T-ara’s ‘Sexy Love’ is an addictive song, but many fans still wish that Qri and Boram got more lines. Well, probably CCM is just trying to give more spotlight to new member Ahreum, but they didn’t have that much screen time even before Ahreum joined the group.

U-Kiss’ Kiseop

When I first saw U-Kiss covering g.o.d’s ‘Lies,’ I was surprised by Kiseop’s singing. As far as I remember, he had never got such a long part before that cover and I kind of fell for his voice. I’m glad that he finally got more parts in the group’s recent comeback track ‘Stop Girl.’

ZE:A’s Kwanghee

Kwanghee is definitely popular as a variety idol, but unfortunately he seems to be the most underrated singer in ZE:A. He has low self-confidence in his own singing skills and some people who don’t really know ZE:A may think that he can’t sing. I wish Kwanghee would be a bit more confident about his singing and that their company would give him a chance to show what he can do.

Which idols do you think should get more lines in their groups?

How about the members of Teen Top (other than Neil)… I’m sorry if you don’t agree, but I feel like Neil steals almost all of the lines other than small rap parts and others…

All true… :(

EXO-M Xiumin… for someone who won second place in SM’s singing contest, AND is also a genius of a dancer, the kid really doesn’t get much attention. His lines in the MAMA album (6 songs) totalled to around 30 seconds.
And although Tao is (technically) a rapper, Kris gets most of EXO-M’s raps and Tao is also not a bad singer when it comes to lines without belting. Whether singing, rapping or somewhere in between Tao’s voice is adorable and adds a spice to their songs.

v yeaah omg ricky, sungyeol, sungjong, xiumin and tao need heaps more lines. if ricky sings for at least like 10 seconds im gonna be like the happiest girl amongst other thousands of happy girls LOLOL

i think DaeHyun always get ignore .. SungJong , Ricky , and Tao should get more lines , -,-

Not only does Hyoyeon not get enough lines, she doesn’t get enough spotlight either. Isnt she the main/lead dancer of SNSD? Most people know that her specialty is dancing. But they always place her in the back or to the sides...its really unfair for her talent.

Kwanghee is an awful singer, so I don`t agree with that part, but Kiseop should get more lines

Of course it’s not fair to give some members more lines then the others, but I honestly think it’s okay, because I’m sure it’s not distributed randomly. When I listen to a song I want to hear a voice which suits it - and the range of it color etc. has to fit. When the artists improve their voices they should be granted more lines of course, but often only the popular members get the lines and even the ones who can sing very well have only few ones u.u

They definitely need more lines!

This is quite true.  I definitely noticed Peniel’s during “WOW”, he is also usually in the back for most of the choreo of “WOW” too :( Sungyeol is another one.

hwaiting idols… i hope ya’ll get more parts for sure

yes this is true! I’m always bothered when idols don’t get much lines. I love the song from ZE:A and Dongjun is my favorite but that doesn’t mean I want to see him sing almost every part. Also Dara should get more lines to sing, and Seungri and Daesung too!

I was expecting Sungyeol too! XD

infinite sungyeol also! He only get one line for one song…

Definitely agree about E-Young! She’s so talented.

I agree with this list. SHINee’s Minho should be there too. Key usually raps more than him in SHINee’s songs..

Jongup hardly has any lines at all. I didn’t know he could sing until Dancin in the Rain :/

where’s sungyeol… he BARELY gets lines

I know EXO are rookies and still have a long way to go, but in the next album I’d love to hear more of Sehun, Xiumin, Kai and Tao.

sadly, some of these idols i don’t know.. DDDDDDDD: </33 OTL
Although I dont see Kwanghee sing as much, i’m seriously loving his role in To The Beautiful You.. and he’s hecka funny on variety shows.. <33

I agree, Kwanghee might want more short lines lol. Kiseop, 100% agree his voice is almost like Kevin’s angelic voice. Shindong, OMG he should get a lot more rapping lines. I will have to add Kyuhyun too, he need longer lines lol. I love how B1A4 remembers almost have the same amount of lines, if a member doesn’t have a lot of lines in a song, than usually that member has more lines in a different song. It equals out :D

Daseom, Kiseop and Kwanghee! ^^ I’m surprised I don’t know most of the people on this list. -_-

yup they are unnoticed…

i think they all deserve more lines
...
i think that choi minho should be there as well
