On October 15th, ABC’s late-night news program, “Nightline” showed Americans how K-Pop idols are trained through the K-Pop Boot Camp of SM Entertainment.
SM Entertainment let an ABC reporter step into its doors and check out what it’s like to go through the idol training program…that is, if someone makes it past the audition.
Check out the clip below.

It’s super cool that ABC/America is taking an interest in this but I’m actually disappointed with the segment. They only had 3 mins of coverage when they are the first cameras to step into SM Academy! There is so much to talk about - the years spent there, school and social life falling back, some not even debuting. It’s a lot harder than what they talked about.
I’m also butthurt that they didn’t show TVXQ, BoA and Shinee. I can understand the newer fans don’t know about TVXQ and BoA, but why not Shinee?

SM is one of those that has such a rigorous training periods. Even those that do make it and start to train may drop out. One such case SS501’s Heo Young Saeng. He is popular today but not because of SM but because his own agency had scouted him and groomed him to climb to the top.
yupp, kpop stardom isn’t just for anyone
