Block B is officially back with the release of their first full-length album “Blockbuster“, and at the album’s press conference, leader Zico revealed the group’s desire to be referred to as “independent idols”.
Zico explained, “When we evaluate ourselves, we find a strong sense of self-supportiveness or independence. We participated on working not only on our appearances such as hairstyles but also the general structure and choreography for this album. We didn’t want to be restricted in a frame and wanted to try something that people usually don’t do. We ask you to consider us an ‘idol’ group full of various charms.”
As for the theme of the album, Zico selected the theme of “freedom”. He elaborated, “We’ve set ‘Pirates’ as our album concept because the term comes to you easily when you think of freedom. We tried to express emotions we went through during our time off, so please look forward to it.”
