Hollywood actress Lucy Liu, who is also known as one of the members of Charlie’s Angels recently received a lot of negative criticism after her recent interview in “The Late Show with David Letterman.”
Exactly what happened? Well, during the interview, she was asked if she preferred running indoors or outdoors, and in reply she said, “I run on a machine—it’s easier for me. Also, if I get really dark, I’ll start to look a little Filipino. It wouldn’t match if I start getting darker, you know what I mean? I can get really dark if I’m in the sun too much.”
After hearing this comment, netizens were quite offended and called her a racist. However, she set things right by sincerely apologizing to everyone stating, “I am so sorry that my comment was taken out of context, as I would never insult another group or ethnicity.”

I don’t see anything wrong with this comment.
Seriously, Just some people overreacting.
She’s not saying that it’s a bad thing, it’s just won’t make her look good with darker skin. Some people look nice some don’t match that well.
She really didn’t say anything bad, I do see where the negative reaction is coming from but maybe she just meant she prefers if she looks more like she is from her own country so people won’t constantly mistake her.

She didn’t say she didn’t like Filipinos. I don’t find anything rude about her comment.

While I can understand it was just thrown out as a harmless statement, I think that it is kinda worthy of scrutiny.
Besides why is everyone always so scared about getting ‘dark’?

>.> I don’t see whats so offensive about this...it’s not like she said she hates Filipinos or anything.
If she wants to have light skin then okay its her body.

It`s her opinion and her body, she didn`t say she didn`t like filipinos

Well, it’s just a comparison I guess… Plenty of people do that. -.-
People should stop freting about something like this. It’s not as if she says something mean about people. >_>

So I can understand not wanting to be dark, but did she have to say anything about, “looking Filipino”? That’s just an bad, awkward comment to make.
Also, I am so tired of people not wanting to be dark.
good thing she cleared it up...i don’t think it was bad to begin with..
