From Rekuru:

It’s a fact: girls (most of them anyways) don’t like bugs. There’s just something about those creepy, crawly little pests that send women into a fright. But Nausicaä, the heroine and star of Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind, isn’t like every girl. She likes-nay, LOVES bugs and is able to communicate with them unlike us spider squashing, raid wielding, bug bombing ruffians. More »

Namie Amuro’s newly released album PAST<FUTURE contains a song, Love Defend, with a music video full of Gundam goodness. Namie Amuro + Gundam = match made in heaven? Find out for yourselves! More »

The trailer is now available on the main website here. Now you don’t have to put up with the crappy camera versions previously available on Youtube. And it looks even more delicious now, but it’s studio Deen. I’m sure they’ll find some way to screw it up. If they don’t then it’ll be a pleasant surprise. I still want to watch it no matter what though, even if everyone says it’s terrible. If you watched the F/SN anime and remember episode 14, you’ll know what I’m looking forward to seeing.

I absolutely love to read. I read everywhere I go- when I’m riding the bus, when I’m in class (though I’m not suppose to), when I’m cooking (which sometimes leads to disastrous results), when I’m fantasizing about kissing Daniel Henney under the stars- just name a place and I’ll read there. Do you know what kind of book I like to read the most? Manga of course! Mangas are like picture books ranging all ages and I wish I had a library full of them. More »

When I think about manga that deals with love or dating, shoujo manga, manga directed towards girls is always the first thing I think of. Kimi Ni Todoke deals with a girl named Sawako but other people think her name is Sadako because of her resemblance to the character from “The Ring.” More »

There is manga and anime which makes me want to go out and fix everything wrong with the world. I quickly lose motivation but they are still great and defines how to be a man. More »

I kind of detest Hello Kitty. I really want to buy up as much Hello Kitty gear as possible and burn it all to the ground. Only in doing so I would just be giving the company more money (I never understood record burnings either). The sad irony. More »

There can never be enough traps. Every series can always benefit from a good trap or two. There’s even h-games that let you play as one. Sneaking them into an all girls school is a pretty common theme. More »

From Rekuru:

Okay, I admit to being a huge nerd during the first wave of anime fandom. Granted I can’t claim, with any authority, not to still be a huge nerd; but if you share my unfortunate heritage, perhaps you remember something we used to do called shipping. This involved latching onto a pair in our favorite anime who exhibited unresolved romantic tension (if even that) and posting endlessly on message boards, for example, “TaiXSoraFTW!!!!” Sometimes we’d even create a portmanteau of their names, as in Taiora. Well, the fact remains that some of those were pretty fine couples, and here are my picks for the ones I most regret never became official. More »

From Rekuru: Let’s face it, everyone needs some love in their life. While the Beatles claim all you need is love, I won’t go as far as to agree but I will say it’s a pretty big deal. With that in mind, I’ve mustered up my inner matchmaker and have compiled a list of japanese icons that would make for quite the fetching couple. More »

From Rekuru:

This week marks the launch of CrazySingleLife, a reality blog like no other. So all week here at Rekuru, we’re looking at that silly thing called love. I thought long and hard about what to write about for this week’s installment of Anime You Should See Before You Die and among the teen-angst and high school hijinx love stories, I settled on this. Although perhaps settled is a poor choice of words as Escaflowne is more than fitting for this week, with a deep and involving story as well as enough mech-battling and sword fighting to tide over action fans and shōjo devotees alike. Gunbuster is a super robot anime (6 episode OVA) with the most hot blooded female anime character I have ever seen. Takaya Noriko is just a normal girl with a pure admiration for an female upperclassman. She attends a school that trains her how to pilot giant robots to battle off an alien invasion. More »

From Rekuru:

We don’t often look to anime to warm the cockles of our hearts, and so in compiling this, my list of the top four official anime couples, I had to rule out anything involving large age gaps, harems, animals, sadomasochism and tentacles. Yes, official couples: shippers despair. But your hour may yet come.

And so, without further ado, it’s time to ask that all-important question: Just what the heck arecockles?” More »

Are you a lover of romance? Do stolen glances and hand brushes make you feel all gooey inside? Then check out my list of top three romantic girls manga. All titles are available in English. More »

When I first saw the manga titled “Kampfer,” I was expecting something as badass as this (it’s the mobile suit Kampfer from Gundam: War in a Pocket). Obviously, I was disappointed. Until I read the summary for it. Some normal high school boy wakes up as a magical girl. What can go wrong? More »

Nana by Ai Yazwa is chock-filled with rock music, love triangles, hot guys, scandals and comedy: A deliciously perfect recipe for drama. More »

Apparently, Bakuman is getting an anime adaption. There’s not much info besides the single line “Bakuman TV Anime decided. ETV Fall.” Not sure how I feel about this. It doesn’t seem like there’s much to animate. It looks like it’s going to be 20 minutes of people talking to each other — about manga. Still, I’m very curious to see how this will turn out. Hopefully it doesn’t go down like Death Note with yaoi undertones between Light and L. That was just nasty.

Don’t let anyone fool you by thinking otherwise, Ninginers are not at all like the singer Meat Loaf and his song, “I Would Do Anything For Love.” True, Meat Loaf would do anything for love…except that. Us here at Ningin, we’re willing to do that. And, by that, I mean we’re giving our readers another special to promote the launch of CrazySingleLife, a reality blog about the adventures of dating. This special is called, “The Things Ninginers Will Do For Love,” and will include a week of great blog posts relating to both dating and Asian pop culture. More »

Crow’s Claw is a fan group that does metal versions of music from Final Fantasy, Touhou, Tsukihime, Fate/Stay Night and Ragnarok Battle Offline. They have around 9 albums currently and it’s worth checking out, especially if you liked any of the original music. More »

Supercell is a group known for their music done with Vocaloid, or more specifically, Hatsune Miku. They’ve recently done the ending song:“Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari” for the anime series Bakemonogatari. Most of their songs are uploaded on Nicovideo and it’s great. Their songs are so popular that they have a lot of different fans playing their own versions of it.

For anyone interested in their songs, I’d recommend starting with “Black Rock Shooter”, “Melt” and “World is Mine.” There’s a lot more, and countless different variations of each song fan-made and “official”, these are just my favorite ones.
