Shoji Gatoh’s Full Metal Panic! has been recently reported to be turned into a live-action film by Mandalay Pictures. Another anime bites the dust?
Not much is known about the movie just yet; however, there are rumors that actor Zac Efron may be involved with the project. Could this get any worse? High School Musical already ended his career, does he really have to take down an anime franchise? Let’s hope not. More »
Japan has a knack for building the most amazing things. For example, the worlds ONLY indoor beach.
Built in Miyazaki, Japan, the Ocean Dome is always sunny, salt-free, shark-less and perfectly temperature year around. It’s basically all the things you like about the beach. There’s even a volcano that spits out fake flames occasionally. Oh and there is a retractable roof! While I love the sun, I don’t think Hawaii can beat this bad boy. More »

The Japan Society really has outdone themselves with their latest exhibit “KRAZY!”. At first I was sure this was just going to be a one room gallery of animation cells, but “KRAZY!” is so much more.
They have several rooms dedicated to different facets of exported Japanese media such as manga, anime, and video games. One cool aspect of the exhibit is that it’s interactive and rooms are set up to influence the senses. More »

This weekend I had the chance to check out Dragonball Z Evolution and I wasn’t too enthralled to watch. There is just something about watching characters we love being warped into something new. I pegged this move as a instant bomb and wanted no part of it. However, curiosity got the best of me and I decided to check it out. More »

However! If you’re still up for some action, visit the KRAZY! exhibit. It has a great library of manga in addition to showcasing some of the most famous and talented manga/anime artists. Learn more about it on the Ningin KRAZY! page. More »

The upcoming cosplay contest judging panel not only has some of Ningin’s team members but also professional cosplayers India Davis and Elizabeth Licata from cosplay Team USA (photo left).
Both based in New York City, these girl share a passion for cosplay fashion. While most of us just scramble last minute to put together a cosplay outfit, these girls actually make their own by hand. Without a doubt these girls have talent. More »

The live action remake of the anime hit series, Dragonball Z, has become the #1 hit movie over the past weekend in China, Hong Kong, Malayasia, Singapore and Thailand. What?
No idea how but even in Japan the movie is a hit taking the #2 spot on the charts following Yatterman. I’m guessing there were a lot of curious people? I doubt this movie will stand tall here in the U.S. but perhaps I’m being to harsh. I mean, who doesn’t like a white Picoclo. /Sarcasm. More »

(That’s to-RABU-ru, for those unfamiliar with Japanese pronunciation) There’s nothing all that special or groundbreakingly original about to-LOVE-ru’s genre (harem romantic comedy) or its relationship dynamics, or even its content - heck, it’s probably one of the most generic manga in publication - but what does make it special is the entire package. It is normally said that anime fans are sleepy headed because they like to sleep in during the day after a long night of watching anime and playing Nintendo DS. However, theres not a more energized fan than an anime fan at an anime related event specially early in the morning. Some of these fans even go the extraordinary length of not sleeping just to attend, usually this can be seen by glaze on their eyes as they wait in line for the doors to open and on this day it was no less different. Before the doors opened to Kinokuniya’s in midtown Manhattan, there was a long line that went down the block and around the corner full of eagerly awaiting and at times jittery anime lovers and cosplayers.
