Sorry for the lack of favorites the past few days, but the powers that be gave me a few days off. I’m guessing they’re afraid that I’ll burn out or something. Ok the truth… I was afraid of getting swine flu. Until I saw this mask. Now I feel safe to blog again.

Here’s a pin game that’s different from our usual movie score guessing. Ningin blogger Jinra has already blogged about the Pacquiao vs. Hatton fight happening tomorrow night. Apparently it’s a pretty big deal. So epic in fact that it deserves its own pin game from Ningin! More »

Alas, the Wolverine movie blows according to Rottentomatoes. Well, not like it was unexpected according to the early reviews. I guess the whole franchise has gone downhill a bit since Bryan Singer left to do Superman. More »

Thanks for all your feedback about our EXP system thus far and the prize suggestions. We think a lot of the bugs have been fixed and so we’re going to try to do monthly prizes in addition to our current weekly BoA poster prizes. More »

The SECRET IDENTITIES editors are going coast to coast to celebrate Asian Heritage Month this weekend! They’ll be making separate appearances in Baltimore, Los Angeles, and New York City speaking about SECRET IDENTITIES, the first-ever graphic novel anthology of Asian American superhero stories. When I was asked to do this daily feature, I made a conscious decision to not focus too much on celebrity news, other than scandals of course. Seems that a lot of Asian news is dominated by what the latest Asian celeb is doing. On occasion I’ll pick some non scandal celeb stuff to feature, but I try not to. It’ll depend on how unique the story is. Take this Simpson style rendering of the girl group Kara. It’s different and it’s cool. So check it out!

Really big photo day today. At the time of this writing, over 300 which is twice the norm. Quickly scanning through everything there were a few that immediate jumped out at me. Take this one for example; I had to stare for a few seconds to figure out what it was. I have a better idea now but still can’t figure out where he ends and she begins. Bonus: it’s another celeb controversy. Click through to find out what the scandal is about.

Week 1 of our weekly BoA poster giveaway ended yesterday at 12am EST. There’s a lot of new users among the week one top ten list, which is a bit unexpected. In any case congratz to cheekybodacious (who gained like 3 levels last week), Hellojeffy, and lily118. We’ll be contacting you shortly for your address info. More »

Such a beautiful weekend so far. I was tempted to stay outside all day but couldn’t ditch my obligation to find the best articles for my dear Ningin readers. Today’s news somewhat makes up for my sacrifice with lots of scandalous news. First we have finger pointing with money involved. Seems that certain SeeYa members are unhappy about their paychecks.

Took awhile for me to find something that’s good enough to pass the Sarah Kim favorites test today. Weekends have been really slow so far. But this is only my second weekend doing this so I can say for certain. This photo of a guy raving with his mouth caught my attention. Click through to Danny Choo’s site and watch the video, it’s so awesome!

In case you’ve been under a rock the past week, SECRET IDENTITIES - the first-ever graphic novel anthology of Asian American superhero stories - is in bookstores now! To celebrate, we’re going to giveaway a one-of-a-kind copy of SECRET IDENTITIES with original artwork by SI editor Jerry Ma! How do you win? Easy. Answer three little questions (correctly) before 12 noon EST on May 6. More »

Today marks one week since I started doing this daily favorites feature on Ningin. So I got a nice little email from the boss today saying that I’m doing great. It’s nice to be appreciated. I gotta say it’s a pretty easy job that I’d probably do anyway. Anyway, on to the theme for today. I’ve noticed lots of art related articles in today’s feeds. So today we’re going with an art theme. First is this set of photos about restroom signs. It’s part of some online challenge to come up with funny restroom signs. There’s TONS of entries and all of them pretty funny. I recommend clicking on the thumbnail link since there’s so many photos.

On May 8th, the long awaited (by sci-fi geeks) Star Trek reboot movie will appear in theaters across the US. The movie has the multi-national, John Cho of Harold and Kumar fame, as Hikaru Sulu. That’s him in the top left of the poster. I believe there are other Asians playing minor roles in the movie as well. So let’s do another movie pin game. What’s the Rottentomatoe score going to be for this one? More »

Looking through today’s photos, I see a lot of well-dressed celebrities. Figuring I have a party to go to tomorrow evening, let’s focus on fashion for today. Here you have some grand opening. That always brings out well dressed people. [thumbnails] [originals - allkpop.com]

Lots of interesting news today. But seeing how Ningin is talking cosplay today, I’ll just focus on the cosplay stuff. There’s a lot of good cosplay stuff today. Take this girl, Alodia Gosiengfiao, she’s like the Tiger Woods of cosplay. [thumbnails] [originals - dannychoo.com]

Meet Ningin’s KRAZY! Online Cosplay Contest winner Ali Bader! The fifteen year old cosplayer from Ohio travelled to New York City to compete in the KRAZY! Cosplay Contest and Party at Japan Society. Ali took a break from writing for quizilla.com and horseback riding to talk about the six days it took her to arrive on stage in New York City. More »

This set of photos has the Chinese internet buzzing. You’re going to have to click through to find out why cuz I’m still kinda like wtf?! It’s so weird yet so attention grabbing. Someone started an online mystery but why? [thumbnails] [originals - danwei.org]

Unlike the weekend, there was much more news to sift through. While I was doing just that, I noticed a pattern ladies and gentlemen. The “S” word appeared a lot. Yes, I mean scandals. I didn’t need to spend more than 5 minutes to find the ones I have below. My strict protestant upbringing prevents me from searching further. More »

Just a quick update, all the scores and levels should now be correct for everyone. Consequently all the Top monthly and weekly users should be correct as well. If you think your level is still wrong, add a comment in this post. More »

This is going to be the first of what I hope will be many of what I call, Pin Games. (I really tried hard to think of a better name!) There’s going to be many different kinds. The basic premise is this: we’ll going to ask you to do something – answer a question, pick a debate side, argue a point, or just comment in the post – and we’ll award you a unique pin if you do what we ask and achieve the purpose of the post.
