Must Listen: Jennifer Kae

Move over Amy Winehouse, Duffy and Adele. Allow me to introduce to you, Germany’s Jennifer Kae. At 20 years old, this girl’s got a huge voice that packs a whole lot of soul into a small frame. While she primarily sings in English, there isn’t much background on her that isn’t in German. Basically, she was born to Filipino immigrants in Germany, ended up on a German idol show and was contacted by Tokio Hotel’s producer to make an album. The result was a very pop, but soulful sounding Jennifer Kae. If you like a lot of 60s inspired pop music a la Amy Winehouse, Duffy or Adele, you’ll like Jennifer Kae. Like Marty McFly in Back to the Future, I jumped back into what seemed like 1955 the second I moved to the back of a little well known tikki bar in downtown NYC called Otto’s Shrunken Head. Located on 14th St and in Alphabet City between Aves A & B, Otto’s Shruken Head is one of the few Tiki bars in the city and serves not only exotic drinks but even exotic acts, and how more exotic can you get than with some time travel.
