I found this video a couple of months ago, but every time I watch it, I love it even more. Underappreciated Korean artists Tei and Park Hyo Shin cover Dreamgirls Beyoncé’s “Listen.” These two ballad singers kill (in a good way) the song. Even though their English isn’t the best, their voices… Oh, their voices. I really can’t explain how amazing they are. Just watch!!!

Another one of my favorites is former KARA member Sunghee. I didn’t know KARA before “Pretty Girl,” but they definitely lost a winner.

While I’ve previously announced that my biggest New Year’s Resolution for 2010 was to have a bangin’ Beyonce body, I have to be super honest with everyone. That’s been my New Year’s resolution for the last three years. Fortunately for us all, the same can’t be said for Asian Entertainment. It’s a million times easier to resolve to read new manga, watch more K-dramas and imagine all the kinds of New Year’s resolutions our favorite celebrities would make. Plus, not everyone can have a body like Beyonce. Beyonce aside, the next few days of our New Year’s Resolutions Special will be dedicated to both our New Year’s resolutions and the resolutions we think our favorite Asian entertainers should make. For the most of us, wearing black latex/PVC outfits everyday is far from practical. In my own personal dream world, it’d be practical like I was Audra Simmons, Filipina girl-group member of RichGirl. Part Destiny’s Child, part Pussycat Dolls, RichGirl is a new girl group that debuted recently with the song that’s been stuck in my head for the last couple of days, “He Ain’t with Me Now, Though.” With good reason, of course — this song is fierce. Beyonce approves, as they’ve recently opened for her “I Am…Sasha Fierce” tour. It’s a song you’d have to force a friend to listen to after a bad break-up. More »

One of the best TV quotes ever comes from my favorite Asian American actor/writer, Mindy Kaling. Kaling as The Office’s Kelly Kapoor is best known for saying, “I like Beyoncé, pink the color, Pink the person, hot dogs, basically anything that is awesome, snowcones… “ And just like Kelly Kapoor, I love Beyonce. A lot. Even if I’m not Japanese, I was ever so pleased to find that one of her Videophone music video ensembles featured a Land of the Rising Sun-inspired leotard. More »

From Girlybubble: Beyonce, Rachel Bilson, Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl’s a fan and naturally I am a fan of Bangkok-based Sretsis too. Spelling ’sisters’ backwards, Sretsis was derived from the bond of sisters — moments of childhood play with Barbie dolls and tea-party role-playing. As clever as that is, Sretsis’ Autumn/Winter 2009 boasts an even more interesting theme: metamorphosis. More »

Could it be because f(x) is too popular for Beyonce? I think Beyonce disappointed me for the first time. Well not her, but her management. f(x) wasn’t able to perform at the concert because Beyonce’s tour management canceled it, 2 hours prior to the concert. That is such a jerk move. More »

None other than our rookie of the month, f(x)! Hoorah! My new favorite girl group is once again acknowledged for their talent and skills. These girls truly deserve to open for a singer like Beyonce. Although their debut was last month, these girls have had explosive responses and have signed with many commercials and fashion companies. More »

More Korean singers debuting in the United States! Like Se7en, BoA, and the Wonder Girls, Wheesung will also debut in the states on October 8th. More »

Good singers look up to the best singers. Beyonce is an inspiration to all! Wonder Girls’ leader Sun, tweeted about her admiration of Beyonce Knowles. She put up a message on her twitter regarding her admiration. More »

My Dearest Beyonce: I adore you. With every ounce of my being, I try to channel you behind closed doors in my underwear, with hopes of finally nailing down the Single Ladies dance. I, like Kanye, truly believed you had one of the best videos of all time. Until I saw a video of Charice perform your Halo song live at this year’s Big-E fair. More »

Pointing and laughing at crowds of fan girls and boys hoping to get a glimpse of their favorite JYP Tour performer and/or occassional chain-smoking back-up dancer? Guilty as charged. Worry not, JYP fans. Last night in my native land Orange County, I was sentenced to two and a half hours of fanatical screaming in my ear! Before you condemn me to JYP hell, consider this: My ability to lose my cool over celebrities has been significantly depleted by age. This however, isn’t to say that I didn’t have a good time. At the age of 12, Sun Mi’s love for singing and dancing eventually turned her into a JYP trainee, where she trained alongside future Wonder Girls Sun Ye and So Hee. Despite her successful and busy career, she continues to attend school and has no plans on giving up on her academic goals. More »

Last week, I mentioned I didn’t catch the theme of this week’s challenge, and in case you haven’t caught wind of it yet, this week is all about magic tricks. Here is a list of the crews’ illusory challenges and their featured songs for the upcoming episode. I’ve gotta say, it was funny the powers that be decided to throw out two T. Pain songs because I’m still reeling from last week’s Lonely Island SNL digital short—featuring none other than T. Pain. I guess people can’t get enough of auto-tune nowadays… (Poseidon, look. at. meeeee.) Anyhooow, there isn’t much diversity as these are pretty much club and hip hop anthems, but as always, the songs always inform the theme of the crews’ dances, so you’ll just have to wait and see how these work out. For now, enjoy! More »

Min Sun Ye is as you all know her the leader of the Wonder Girls! She was first discovered by JYP Entertainment in 2001 during Park Jin Young’s 99% Challenge project. Sun Ye showed off her singing and dancing talents at the young age of 12 and has trained under JYP Entertainment ever since. More »
