Best-known for dressing Michelle Obama, fashion designer Jason Wu will soon be adding sunglasses to his list of items for use of (fashion) world domination. With the collaborative help of high-end sunglasses retailer Modo, the line of Jason Wu sunnies will be released this month in four styles. The feature on Alexa Chung is an essay she wrote on jeans, her fashion obsession. Korean actor/singer Jang Geun Suk recently held a fan meeting in which he wore what could possibly be the brightest, loudest, shiniest sequinned blazer known to man. I totally understand that stage performances do require an element of flashy, but this might’ve been enough to blind fans. It’s almost unfair — he’s a Korean heartthrob so it’s totally normal for fans to faint, pass out or vomit from all the excitement. Luckily, despite the cancellation of MTV’s “It’s On with Alexa Chung,” she once again proves to us that there is life after MTV. Of course the first piece of proof is the fact that she recently topped the list of Vogue’s Most Stylish People. The second piece of proof is that she’s the new face of Pepe Jeans alongside sexy male models Tom Guinness and Boyd Holbrook. Even though MTV turned off “It’s On with Alexa Chung,” Alexa Chung proves that there’s life beyond a canceled MTV show. Alexa recently beat out Sarah Jessica Parker and model Kate Moss to top Vogue’s list of the most stylish people of 2009. When it comes fashion in the world of Asian pop this year, I’ve only two words: avant garde. We’ve seen it in everyone from 2NE1 to just about every boy band that debuted this year. One can only speculate that this trend for the high-end has much to do with the Internet introducing the masses to the world of high-end fashion and the fact that…Kpop is kind of a big deal.
