Japanese top star, Gackt has sent a special video message to show his support for K.Will and his third album part 2, “Love Blossom“. More »

From Rekuru:
Today’s video-of-the-day features everyone’s favorite pop superstar GACKT with one of his first solo PV’s “Mizérable.” At this point, GACKT had recently left the gothic visual kei group Malice Mizer, so there are still remnants of that style in this PV—especially the outfit he is wearing in the carriage. The melody is one of my favorites from GACKT. It’s soft and powerful and bright and sorrowful all at once. (Not to mention, I love the use of violin in the instrumental) More »

From Rekuru: I, like most music fans, spend a lot of time watching music videos and many live performances as well. There are some performances that just seem to suck us in and, somehow, we always go back to them many, many times. I have compiled a list of five performances from all around Japan that I just can’t seem to get out of my head. All the performances are from various years, artists, and styles, so here it goes. From Rekuru: It’s been a year since the Tohoku Earthquake hit Japan and memorial services are being held throughout the nation to remember all the victims of the disaster. On March 11th, GACKT attended three memorial services in Iwate and Miyagi along with the members of YELLOW FRIED CHICKENz and actor Kawasaki Mayo. More »

From Reelwire: I’ve recently had the pleasure of viewing the Japanese singer GACKT’s Hollywood debut film Bunraku (directed by Guy Moshe) recently—he is the main reason I became interested in it—but I found myself quite drawn into the story and visual composition of this movie. I also didn’t expect to become invested in any other character besides GACKT’s character or the story itself. More »

From Rekuru: Today’s video-of-the-day features GACKT and Kami from their Malice Mizer era, showing their “Regret” in this gorgeous piano-and-drum duet. These two instruments (and musicians) play well together, displaying emotions of how sadness can turn into anger in the cycle of regret as the slow piano melody is joined by the hard-beating drums. From Rekuru: Today’s video-of-the-day features super-pop/rock-star Gackt with one of his earlier PV’s (and a fanservice favorite) “Vanilla.” With probably my favorite Gackt hairstyle, this video shows his sexy side (not that all his sides aren’t sexy) as he dances around in a chair, down a hallway, in a glass box, in a wire cage… More »

From Rekuru: Well, this is a new feature for Rekuru: a video-of-the-day for your pleasure, and maybe you’ll discover a new favorite band. For the kickstart, I’m featuring Malice Mizer with their carnivalesque PV “Gekko no Yasoukyouku.” I think everyone should experience Mizer at least once. This visual kei band from the early 90’s characterized itself with lavish costumes, quirky music, and the vocals of GACKT (not to mention some of the most beautiful bass-lines I’ve ever heard). Check out how this pop star began his singing career: More »

Bunraku pin game results are in! The film closed in at Rottentomatoes with 16%. The general consensus states, “Bunraku admirably strives for visual panache, but the staging, acting, and effects are dismal with a complete lack of excitement.” Let’s give it up for the winners of the Gackt Bunraku game pin!
