The Sony ps3 just announced their new console, a slim edition. But Square Enix decided to up the ante with an enhanced white version designed with a graphic of Lightning, (name of main antagonist) in PINK. Hey at least your wife will approve of the purchase. “Oh that’s a cute little box.” More »
Not kidding. A man by the named of Jun Ando (computer programmer) punched a 50 year old woman after she asked him to stop playing games on his cell phone because of the overly crowded train.
Anger management ju say yo? Ando ended up giving the woman several punches to the face and a broken jaw. And it didn’t stop there! After being restrained by other passengers, he continued to punch her while waiting at the police station. Ando admitted to punch the woman but said that there’s nothing he can do about the crowded trains. More »
Square Enix is famous for their RPGs and The Last Remnant is no different.

Okay not really but everyone was shocked to hear at E3 2008 that Square Enix will be taking FFXIII to multi-platform except for in Japan.
Some are pretty pissed that SE is pulling a 360 since they bought the PS3 specifically for FFXIII; however, Corporate Director Shinji Hashimoto doesn’t see it that way. Of course he wasn’t the one spending $300 to buy one.
I’d rather they not think of this as a “betrayal” or disappointment. It’s not like we’re canceling or delaying the PS3 version at all! It’s more of an added bonus for 360 fans. We won’t be putting them at a disadvantage in any way.
In the end, all FF lovers will give in and play the game but Sony lovers (like myself) are a bit disappointed with SE’s decision. We were all expecting FF to save Sony.

The responses have been great so far for Eddie Lebron’s Megaman Movie trailer and we want to thank everyone who was patient and watched the trailer right here on Ningin.com. Yea, apologies for the site slowdown. We had many, many spikes yesterday!
We want to give out some free Megaman stuff like the new Megaman 9 game (on your system of choice), free tickets to the Megaman movie screenings, and free Megaman DVDs. Unfortunately we don’t have enough for the tens of thousands of people who watched so here’s a simple little contest to determine the winner: More »
Square Enix really knows how to impress an audience. At Tokyo Game Show, they featured four Kingdom Hearts trailers, one of which was the upcoming DS game: Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.
The trailer featured various mind blowing teasers that included Organization XIII members, the return of Riku and Mickey, various ass kicking and a new character, Xion. The drama didn’t just stop there, at the end the words “February 2009” flashed leaving me completely thrilled and depressed. Note that this is first to be released in Japan leaving the rest of us non-Japanese speakers to wait it out in the cold.
In addition to the DS game, Square Enix plans to release Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep for PSP and Kingdom Hearts 3 for rumored PS3, both of which are still TBA. More »
You know that hikko guy that has watched every episode of Lucky Star at least 10 times? Yea, that’s me. That all-too-spirited guy in 1st year Japanese that knows words like kakushigo but still can’t order cold soba from the joshikousei waitress? That’s me too. That 7′6″ dude on the Rockets who routinely puts up 20 and 10? Naw, that’s Yao, but hanging out with T-Mac on Jimmy Kimmel sounds pretty fun.
What’s up Ningin, I’m Jerry Chen, the new blogger from San Francisco. I’m big on anime and games and basketball and jpop, most to an obsessive degree. I think last night I had a dream where I was just chillin at the neighborhood shouten, then some girl cradling a bag of taiyaki ran into me then dragged me into some restau… wait… never mind. I tell ya, too much anime and you start wishing those anime eye contacts would come standard with every girl~ More »

Which anime series would make the best MMO universe based on story, characters, and abilities?
Mia Lerda of Ningin.comOkay the secret is out, Mia is not up to date on the latest MMO/RPG type games. Yet, like everyone else in the this loving world I too have dabbled in some RPG VG’s. Mostly my interest favors the genre of horror survival games. You know, games like Fatal Frame and Resident Evil. This pretty much tops of my limited VG knowledge because the truth is I really am a backseat player! No really I am… I rather watch or be the sideman to someones strategic moves. Oh I have had my share of live xbox adventures, which I will tell you about later on, but personally I rather just be in the audience.
So, when I was asked the question which Anime would make the best MMO I thought to myself, do I have enough knowledge about MMO? Surely… I watch enough Anime to know the ones I would want to be apart of, so there is where my decision would lay. So I thought…hmmmm Slayers Maybe? Macross? HackSign? Hellsing? Inuyasha? or Pokemon? More »

Which anime series would make the best MMO universe based on story, characters, and abilities?
Duke Hong (KibouHou) of Ningin.comWhich anime would make the best MMORPG? It’s a fun question. I would love to see my favorite animes made into MMOs, although some lack the potential (A “Lovely Complex” MMO would be a bit difficult to design). After giving it some thought, one anime seemed to have everything an MMO needs. Soul Eater was first aired in April, it’s a recent anime best known here as “that anime which T.M Revolution did the opening for”. The story revolves around Maka and Soul, both students at the “Shinigami Weapon Meister Vocational School (Shinigami Buki Shokunin Senmon Gakko) or better known as Shibusen. There are two types of students at these schools, meisters and weapons. Weapons are well…weapons. They are students that can transform into weapons (literally). Then there are meisters, students who wield weapons. The MMO could place a player in the shoes of either a weapon or meister. Between both weapon and meister, you would have tons of customization options. While playing the game, you would do what any ordinary Shibusen student would do: collect souls and hunt witches. Which anime series would make the best MMO universe based on story, characters, and abilities?
Lan Nguyen of Ningin.comIt was really difficult just picking one anime as I’ve seen many and there are still a lot more that I haven’t. Most of the ones I have seen, I really enjoyed and felt as if I was picking which kid was my favorite so I decided to rely on my fan girl powers which worked out pretty well.
Fan girling it, I was trying to think which anime had the hottest guys in it. There’s just way too many to just pick one so why not combine them all into one MMO? It would be an epic version of Kingdom Hearts, Jump Super Stars and/or Super Smash Brothers. There’s a reason why those games are popular and it’s because you get to see all your favorite characters wail on each other not to mention they’re all bad ass.
The majority of my time would be spent man handling all the bishonens and bishojos but that’s beside the point. I would love to watch certain characters/groups battle each other like the Espada (Bleach) VS Akatsuki (Naruto) in addition to the characters people would come up with based on the different animes’ skill sets, fashion and culture. It would be a very complex game and it’s probably far from reality as of right now but I can’t help but to day dreaming of all the possibilities.
While the anime community is still small, this would an ideal way to promote anime in addition to introducing different characters/story lines/etc all at once. A lot to handle but if you’re willing to spend hours on end on a single game just grinding, why not spend it on something cooler? More »
For the first time ever on Ningin, we’re going to have a roundtable discussion – in a blog format. The one thing I really want to impress upon people is that Ningin is a community for people interested in all aspects of Asian media and that a community has many different parts. Today, this roundtable format will give a very clear example of how that community and all those different parts can come together in an open discussion. This roundtable post will be done in 4 parts spread throughout the day.
The people that making up this roundtable will be: Ningin bloggers, Lan and Mia; outside bloggers, Louis from Xorsyst.com, John from Otakuden.com, and BZou from Otakuinternational.com; and Ningin users, Owari, Kibouhou, and SimonMBC. They’re all going to give their opinions about the following topic:

My favorite little leek spinning princess will now be grazing the screen of the PSP according to a recent announcement by Famitsu magazine. The game is title, Miku Hatsune – Project Diva unfortunately, whether or not it’ll be released in the US is still unknown. I’m keeping my hopes up anyways or maybe I’ll finally get off my arse and learn Japanese.
