In February of this year, one up-to-date netizen decided to create a list that ranked each girl group and then posted it onto an online forum. After receiving a lot of buzz, the list has been updated according to how well girl groups did with their comebacks.

For today’s Daily Rant, I want to talk about what goes through the minds of some overboard fan-girls and the results of that. Now first off, I know most of us have that inner fan-girl that gets jealous when they see their bias hanging out with another girl group member. Sometimes it’s not even hanging out but just being on the same program causes that fan-girl to grow hate over the female idol. It’s hard to deny but it happens. However, what I really hate seeing is when fans take it to another level and straight up goes out and starts cussing out that female idol. Excuse my language but a lot of what I would see is, “Oh, she’s so ugly” or “Oh, she’s such a slut.” More »

We thought we had seen it all last year when rookie girl groups dominated the music scene. But think again - Korea’s music scene will be inundated by a second wave of girl groups preparing to make their debut in the second half of 2011. More »

Back in 2007, only a few idol groups surfaced such as Wonder Girls and SNSD. However, in less than 3 years, idol groups debut at a lightning-speed rate. Neo Bob did a survey amongst 541 people from May 10 - 28, asking ‘Which is the leading pop girl group for the Korean mass culture?’ More »

All this news of DBSK going their separate ways and doing solo things has got me thinking about the state of the solo artist in Asian pop music. It’s not unusual for artists to embark on solo careers even if just for a little bit. There’s G-Dragon, Hyori, Brian from Fly to the Sky. With all these boy and girl groups, it makes me wonder — will solo artists ever dominate? Ever look at individual boy and girl group members and think, “Wow, they could do so much better on their own.” More »

Leaders are an essential part to any group. They help keep things in order and are responsible for both encouraging their members and keeping them in line. I discovered this song T-ara’s Falling U on Youtube and I must say it’s a very emotional song. It’s about a girl (T-ara) still having feelings for a guy that cheated on her. This track’s RnB vibe shows the real talent each T-ara member has. The Youtube video is below (with English subtitles) so give it a listen and tell what you guys think of it. More »

For the most of us, wearing black latex/PVC outfits everyday is far from practical. In my own personal dream world, it’d be practical like I was Audra Simmons, Filipina girl-group member of RichGirl. Part Destiny’s Child, part Pussycat Dolls, RichGirl is a new girl group that debuted recently with the song that’s been stuck in my head for the last couple of days, “He Ain’t with Me Now, Though.” With good reason, of course — this song is fierce. Beyonce approves, as they’ve recently opened for her “I Am…Sasha Fierce” tour. It’s a song you’d have to force a friend to listen to after a bad break-up. More »

By copying Yu Gi Oh? On Yenny’s twitter, some fan asked her to upload a scary picture. I guess since Halloween is coming up, it was the right time to do it. Yenny DID upload a picture, but, I don’t think it was scary. I think it just made her look more beautiful. More »
