For today’s Daily Rant, I want to talk about what goes through the minds of some overboard fan-girls and the results of that. Now first off, I know most of us have that inner fan-girl that gets jealous when they see their bias hanging out with another girl group member. Sometimes it’s not even hanging out but just being on the same program causes that fan-girl to grow hate over the female idol. It’s hard to deny but it happens. However, what I really hate seeing is when fans take it to another level and straight up goes out and starts cussing out that female idol. Excuse my language but a lot of what I would see is, “Oh, she’s so ugly” or “Oh, she’s such a slut.” More »

All this news of DBSK going their separate ways and doing solo things has got me thinking about the state of the solo artist in Asian pop music. It’s not unusual for artists to embark on solo careers even if just for a little bit. There’s G-Dragon, Hyori, Brian from Fly to the Sky. With all these boy and girl groups, it makes me wonder — will solo artists ever dominate? For the most of us, wearing black latex/PVC outfits everyday is far from practical. In my own personal dream world, it’d be practical like I was Audra Simmons, Filipina girl-group member of RichGirl. Part Destiny’s Child, part Pussycat Dolls, RichGirl is a new girl group that debuted recently with the song that’s been stuck in my head for the last couple of days, “He Ain’t with Me Now, Though.” With good reason, of course — this song is fierce.
