When I first saw the manga titled “Kampfer,” I was expecting something as badass as this (it’s the mobile suit Kampfer from Gundam: War in a Pocket). Obviously, I was disappointed. Until I read the summary for it. Some normal high school boy wakes up as a magical girl. What can go wrong? More »

It’s nice to see Sunrise working on turning a Gundam novel into anime. Their more recent series (Gundam 00, Seed, Destiny) just didn’t feel right to me. Hopefully this encourages more Universal Century stuff (the original gundam timeline) to get animated. It feels bad missing out on a huge chunk of the story just because I can’t read the novels/manga like Crossbone Gundam and Hathaway’s Flash. More »

Next time you’re mulling around Kobe with nothing to do (for instance if the Wendy’s near the station is closed) you might want to check out the Gundam bar “Axis.” Besides supplying Gundam themed drinks of all shapes and sizes, the bar features over 300 plastic figures. Also of all shapes and sizes. More »

Apparently earlier this year, a man named Eddie Rath released an online album devoted to the manga/anime, Naruto. I thought it was absolutely awesome that an entire English album dedicated to an anime was available in the States (only in mp3 format however). But after listening to a few songs….let’s just say I had a different opinion. More »

Someone in Odaiba Japan is trying to make a full scale replica of a Gundam fighter. For those that never watched the anime, a Gundam is this building size robots that fights in battles. It looks pretty impressive so far!
At first glance, Takanori Nishikawa looks like a short pretty boy. Don’t judge his talent by his looks! Takanori’s music career started in 1990 where he was the lead singer for the band, Luis-Mary. At the time, his stage name was Haine but little did he know, he would eventually be the famous Japanese music artist known as T.M.Revolution.
With New York Anime Festival coming up, why would someone introduce a singer? Isn’t this supposed to be about anime? Well, for the past twelve years, Takanori Nishikawa has brought more than just music. Whether it’s anime, music, or acting, Takanori has brought a revolution. More »
It’s in the near future that technology has advanced to a point where human powered machines make people into, larger than life, super powered robots. Sound familiar? Well that’s the basic premise of Mecha stylized Anime. This science fiction backdrop varies, but the influence is the mainstay; without this genre, Anime would not be the same.
My first vivid memory with these massive exoskeleton suits was the American version of the Macross series. Known in the USA as Robotech; the storyline follows pilots of the UN spacey as they take flight to beat an over-sized race of humanoids, called the Zentradi. The type of Mech our brethren used made ordinary humans just as tall as their alien enemies. This also allowed them to transform into air fighting jet planes. What was even more common is the Zentradi soldiers also wore protective mechanical suits making this technology universal. More »
