Vanness Wu, who most people associate with F4, is so hilarious. Now, I never got into the whole Boys Before Flowers/Meteor Shower/Hana Yori Dango deal because I found it too typical, which is funny because this is really the manga that people tend to “copy.” Anyway, I was never a huge fan of Vanness until this video. Manga or manhwa, if it’s lucky enough, lives on beyond the pages and onto the small or the big screen. If it’s even luckier, manga/manhwa makes it to my list of top 5 manga turned live action. More »

From Girlybubble: Life, why are you so hard sometimes? The chief of my morning was spent scouring every Internet corner for a cute boy with donuts. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate every hour, minute, second, nanosecond, giga second of work. It’s the daily torture that makes things hard: I’m not always eating donuts or cupcakes. Sad, but true. As a health nut with a waivering heart, I purposely make sources scarce. Now that South Korean actor Lee Min Ho is narrowed down as the Cute Boy of the Week, I’ve got a new problem. More »

Now that the series has picked up and going quite well, parodies are popping up all over the place.
Aside from Big Bang’s parody, there have been quite a few from netizens and even some celebrities. From games to the Simpsons to photoshop, fans obviously have a lot of time on their hands. Not that I’m complaining. A lot of these parodies are quite hilarious. Below are the ones that I liked best.

Big Bang has recently parodied the famous Boys Over Flowers drama.
Being my favorite Jdrama, I got a kick out of the video as each Big Bang member played their parts beautifully. Who would have known that Big Bang would go as far as they did? Honestly I think the Korean Boys Over Flowers should recast Big Bang. They might get even better ratings with them.

You can support them by buying their Global Warming DVD which includes the parody. More »
Gomen ne, I never got around to listing the dramas I’m looking forward to this year (back in the EotY TV Show special), but I finally put together a list of the first-quarter dramas that have caught my eye. Here we go! More »
The much hyped and highly anticipated drama remake, Boys Over Flowers (Hana Yori Dango), turned out to be a disappointment for everyone that tuned in including myself.
After watching two episodes, I find myself in disbelief. But then again were my standards too high? No because I just watched the Hana Yori Dango movie and it was bad ass as a romantic girl’s manga can get. Obviously Korea has a lot to make up for in the next few episodes.
For everyone who didn’t catch it, you can read the recap for episode one and two by Dramabeans. It’s the same story more or less with some bad Korean fashion (cough Jan-Di’s crappy military boots).
With the debut date coming closer and closer, KBS has released more teaser photos of the hit remake Hana Yori Dango.
So far we know that there’s a island vacation, school girl outfits and a shooting range involved. It’s definitely a step up from previous HYD remakes and I’m sure fans every where are screaming for joy (like me).

The highly anticipated Korean remake of the manga hit series, Hana Yori Dango, is nearing its televised debut. The series is set to air on January 5th, 2009 on KBS 2TV and scheduled to take over Worlds Within on Mondays and Tuesdays at the 9:55PM slot. I can hear HYD fans screaming all over, including myself.
While some of us will probably have to wait till the subbed versions are “released”, KBS has already put out promotional posters and a trailer. I can’t say I’m completely content with the casting of the F4 boys but hopefully the series is not as bad as they look!

It’s the end of the road for 2008. Goodbye Samurai Girl, Edison Chen and your photos, and of course goodbye to George W. Bush. Special thanks to Beijing Olympics, the cast of Hana Yori Dango, and Barrack Obama. You’ve been great!
If this year was good to you, then you’ll probably look back on it with fond memories. If this was a rough year for you, I’m talking to you American economy, then it’s a good thing 2008 is just about over. As a wise turtle once said, “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.” (5 points to the first person who correctly guess where that’s from.) More »
The Hana Yori Dango craze is spreading like wildfire with China the next to join in.
It is reported that Chinese network Hunan TV will be doing a remake based on the storyline of Meteor Garden (Taiwan). The producers are hoping to bring on the Taiwanese band F4 in addition to pop stars Hankyung of Super Junior and Yu Haoming in addition to Ariel Lin to play the role of Makino.
While it is all talks, part of me is hoping they’ll do it whereas the other half is like that’s a lot of HYD. The Japanese movie just came only over the summer and Korea has already gone into production with their version. A lot of fans feel the same way but even if they do pull through, it’s not like everyone won’t watch it.

The most highly anticipated series, “the Korean Hana Yori Dango“, has now locked down on their cast. We all know that Gu Hye Seon is going to play Makino Tsukushi but who else is there? Han Chae Young has been casted to play Kim Hyun Joong’s love interest (Todo Shizuka is Hanazawa Rui’s love interest), Kim So Eun will play Gu Hye Seon’s best friend (Matsuoka Yuki) and last but not least are Kim Hyun Joo as Lee Min Ho’s older sister (Domyouji Tsubaki) and Jeon In Hwa as his mom (Domyouji Kaede).
I’m really disappointed with the F4 boys after hearing about the ladies but I have high hopes for the other parts of the series. Looking at screenshots it seems that they’ll be copying the original story almost exactly.
Unlike Meteor Garden (Taiwanese version), this HYD version will be set in High School like the original story. Also while the Japanese HYD didn’t go to the states till the 2nd season, Korea has stepped up by filming in the states already.

Okay so they’ve finally casted the lead female for Hana Yori Dango, unfortunately it’s not some sexy boy toy who can pass off as a girl. It’s Gu Hye Seon.
Never seen her in anything before but she’s won a few big awards: 2007 SBS Acting Awards (New Star Award) and 2006 KBS Acting Awards (New Actress Award). Not only that but she’s sang the theme song for her drama Pure 19 and been in a few music videos. She’s got to be good right?
Honestly she’s a little too mature looking for me. While she does embody the innocent girl look, she’s not quite the perfect fit for me. I would have definitely gone for a bigger star or at least a cuter one like Kim Tae Hee. If you’ve seen the Japanese Hana Yori Dango, Kim Tae Hee and Mao Inoue might as well be twins.
Again I’m disappointed with the cast but hopefully the show will still be good. I’m still praying for them to boot Gu Hye Seon for a boy toy.
So they finally announced the official cast which I’m hoping is a really bad joke. Honestly I knew all the supposed cast members before were just rumors but it gave me a little hope.
The cast for the Korean version of Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers) are: Actor Lee Min Ho as Goo Joon Pyo (Domyouji Tsukasa) SS501’s Kim Hyun Joong as Yoon Ji Hoon (Hanazawa Rui) Actor Kim Bum as So Lee Jung (Nishikado Sojiroh) T-Max’s Kim Joon as Song Yu Bin (Mimasaka Akira)
Urgh it breaks my heart but I guess Kim Hyun Joong isn’t a complete loss. He’s probably the biggest and the cutest star out of the 4 but I rather have Jae Joong~! There is no mention of who will play the lead female, Makino Tsukushi (go figure). I’m still hoping they’ll cast Lee Junki or Jae Joong so we can get some yaoi action, of course that’s just me being hopeful.
The 24 episode TV series will air on Mon – Tues after the drama “The World That They Live In” during the end of December. More »
The long awaited Korean version of drama hit series Hana Yori Dango will air on KBS 2TV in the last week of December. Finally! Honestly, I can’t believe I had to wait so damn long for Korea to catch up. Aren’t they the melodrama gods?
So far there’s been a lot of hype for the show as it is one of the most popular series in all of Asian due to predecessors Meteor Garden (Taiwan) and Hana Yori Dango (Japan; creator of the series). With so much pressure, they’ve gathered some big names to help record the mini series like renowned director Jeon Gi-Sang (Sassy Girl Chuhyang, My Girl) and writer Yoon Ji-Ryeon (Sharp #3). However, they’ve got Group 8 to produce the film even though they failed with Goong S. More »
