From Rekuru: The Incite Mill is a movie project by Horipro management and only casted actors under their management. It was to commemorate 50 years. Sadly, it didn’t do the 50 years justice, but I’ll get to that later. Asianmediawiki shared this synopsis: “Ten people gather together at a complex named “Ankikan” after hearing of a short term job paying 112,000 Yen ($1,236 USD) per hour. The ten people are informed that they will be monitored 24 hours a day for 7 days straight in a psychological experiment. They are then sent to individual rooms with a different weapon located in each room. Once they are locked in they learn the rules of the psychological experiment. 1.) Each person must return to their room by 10 PM. 2.) At the end of 7 days or when there are only two surviving members left alive the experiment will end. The next day a person is found shot to death. Now, what looked like a dream job will turn into a nightmare… “ More »

From Reelwire: In this list that was found online, Spirited Away is one of the movies that the Oscars made famous. Do you agree with them? Slumdog Millionaire is also another. Both are really popular movies. In fact, I probably watch Spirited Away at least once a month because I love it so much (and it’s also in my iPod). Winning the Best Animated Feature Oscar in 2001 was apparently a shock. It is said that no one really expected it to win? Hmmm, maybe. I wasn’t really paying attention when I was younger. More »

From Rekuru: Spaceship Battle Yamato, starring Kimura Takuya, has top the weekend box office. The movie earned a whopping 943,995,550 yen (about US$11.4 million) in five days. TOHO, the film’s distributor, made the announcement Monday that the film was seen 412,129 times and made 528,215,150 yen (US$6.4 million) during the December 4-5 weekend alone, which put the film at #1 on the weekend box office chart. I just want to say “WOW.” I’m very excited for this movie, which I just know will get distribution in the US, and hopefully all over the world for others to enjoy. Please enjoy the clip of the first two minutes of the movie below. More »
