Korean entertainment has been noted as the cleanest, purest that one could fathom, in which sins and scandals are typically far and few between. It’s the end for an artist if they even imagined a scandal, let alone fulfill it. Lately, the entire Korean entertainment world has been a complete trainwreck. There has been no shortage of mayhem, and I’m tired just writing it out. More »

Great news for Asians! The Korean movie Phone was good enough to be made into an American movie! I have heard of the movie, but I forgot the plot. Nevermind that, but how cool is this? A Korean movie is being recognized by the American movie industry! Oh, how I long for more of these recognitions. More »

From Rekuru:

When it comes down to it, a title can make or break an anime. You may not think so at first but when trying to find a new anime to watch amidst a sea of titles, an interesting sounding title can be more than enough reason to check it out. Of course, a bad title can do quite the opposite. Imagine how well recieved Cowboy Bebop would have been had it been called Super Happy Bounty Hunter Time! So with that in mind, I present five anime who’s titles can only be described as ill-conceived. More »

From Rekuru:

Who could forget the 80’s? The clothes, the hair….the ninjas? You may not associate the 80’s with ninjas but upon closer inspection, you’ll find that this decade more than any other was THE period of ninja revival. Don’t believe me? Read on. More »

From Rekuru:

Women aren’t the first thing you think of when someone says ninja. More often than not, your mind jumps to men with dirty glares in black outfits. What you may or may not know, is that women played an integral role in ninja clans of the past. More »

It’s that time of year again where thrills and chills invade your body and supernatural beings come out to play. Josh Harnett shows his love from Korean directors, actors, actresses, and Korea itself. If you don’t know why Josh Harnett suddenly has this sudden interest in Korea, it’s because he starred in a movie called I Come With the Rain with Lee Byung Hun, the Korean superstar in G.I. Joe. The movie came out in 2008’s Cannes Film Festival, but now the movie is being released in Korea. More »

From Ziggytek: Blu-Ray might be the best HD format in the states, but another HD format is emerging and it’s from the folks over at China. China Blue HD, has over taken Blu-ray as the number one HD format in China. What does this mean for the rest of the world? Probably nothing. More »

From Ziggytek: Disney has not only taking control of our childhood innocence with their many harmless creatures and beasts but are also taking control of the Japanese market by partnering up with Panasonic, to sell their movies through a microSD card. More »

Good news for Twihards that happen to dig manga and graphic novels: This week a sketch from the Official Twilight graphic novel series leaked. Yen Press along with Stephenie Meyer have given artist Young Kim their blessings to create the Official Twilight graphic novel series. No word yet on a release date, but you can view more sketches in the July 17 issue of EW Magazine. Personally, I’d much rather have my Edward Cullen in celluloid form (or real life, whichever I can get), but he doesn’t look bad as a sketch: More »

THE LAST AIRBENDER teaser trailer is now out… The only action I got out of this is muttering “Ang ain’t white” to myself. Other than that, this trailer’s a real yawner. I see more impressive martial arts from 1970s movies on TV during Sunday afternoons. Someone might say it’s just the teaser trailer and not a whole fight scene, but the teaser trailer is supposed to get me excited, right? And this really doesn’t. More »

I wasn’t sure how big a fanbase of Final Fantasy people we have on Ningin when I decided to give out these posters. Turns out, a pretty big one based on the amount of points collected this past week, 15206 in total, the most points for one week since we started this promo. Maybe we should start a Final Fantasy community? More »

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete is hitting a big screen TV near you on Tuesday, June 2, on Blu-ray Disc and it is a digital eye candy feast! Danny posted up about this being released back in April. He was all excited to watch it on his 40″ Bravia XBR4. Well, I got to watch the FFVII Blu-ray projected from a Sony PS3 onto a 16″x9″ theater screen and it was incredible. The detail, the color, the sound — whoa. More »
