This is a pretty solemn week for anyone who read the latest chapters of Naruto, Bleach and One Piece. Possible heavy spoiler ahead. Although I dislike Bleach and Naruto so I found those chapters pretty funny. I love One Piece though and damn, this chapter made me shed a tear. The events in these chapters have been predicted, but that doesn’t make it any less satisfying to read. More »

Naburo is an Indonesian version of Naruto. Some scanlator kindly translated the first volume so us non-Indonesian readers can appreciate the story. Otherwise we would have to make do with the beautiful art. Even after being translated, I don’t really understand the story. Obviously it wasn’t meant for lesser minds like mine to comprehend. Anime contains so many different types of ninja characters. There are those who provide comic relief and there are those who help move the story forward. Some are spies for their masters while others are ruthless killers. It was difficult for me to choose which ninjas would make my top 5 list but I was able to narrow it down to these talented characters (Not in any particular order). More »

Apparently earlier this year, a man named Eddie Rath released an online album devoted to the manga/anime, Naruto. I thought it was absolutely awesome that an entire English album dedicated to an anime was available in the States (only in mp3 format however). But after listening to a few songs….let’s just say I had a different opinion. More »

Namco Bandai knows how to think. They have gotten a few famous mangakas (Japanese word for comic book artists) to design some costumes for the console edition of Tekken 6. One of the designers is the oh-so famous Clamp, known for their unique styles and storylines in Cardcaptor Sakura, Tsubasa, XXXholic, X, and many more. More »

FINALLY! Joe Inoue (井上ジョー) has released his first full album! Titled “ME! ME! ME!”, according to Joe himself it has “something for everyone”, from “ballads” to “death metal”. (Yes, Joe said it’s got death metal on it — I assume he’s talking about “Rage -Twenty Four-” and “Kuruma”) More »

Keio Academy of New York will host an open house this Saturday, April 18, for their “Digital Media Creation” summer program. It’s a fantastic two-week English and Japanese bilingual summer program for American and Japanese students. An impressive lineup of guest speakers has already been confirmed, including Yuji Nunokawa, producer of “Naruto” and “Bleach“. Not to mention, students get $200 off the program when mentioning Ningin! More »

My weekend started early when I got to chat with Anime Matsuri’s security director, Elias Romero. He had some really interesting things to say about the on going updates at this year’s convention. This premiere anime event will take place April 10th-12th in Woodlands, Texas and is one of the largest conventions in southern part of the US. More »

This particular list makes me want to do the following: hurl, throw tomatoes, nod in agreement, reminisce down nostalgia lane, puke some more and give my middle finger. A friend agreed with my sentiments by asking, “Were the editors on crack?” Personally, I think they were. I mean, seriously, this list was so long. I think it would have been better to be more selective and picky and narrow the list down to like the top 50 or something. There were so many shows on here I never heard of or cared for, rendering me disgusted and apathetic about their choices. Some of their selections appalled me: why would they consider this show #n and whatnot? More »

Joe Inoue’s (井上ジョー) new single “Closer” finally went on sale December 17. It debuted on the Oricon sales chart at #22. The song has had an incredible YouTube run of almost 800 fan uploaded videos before its official release. Propelled by the release of the Naruto Shippuuden Opening trailer, “Closer”-themed fan subs, karaoke, fan cover versions, and slideshow videos quickly spread across YouTube.

Born in Los Angeles, Japanese-American Joe Inoue grew up to be fluent in three things: English, Japanese, and music. Joe plays every instrument in the songs he writes: guitar, bass, drums, and finally the vocals.

In 2005, he signed a record deal with Ki/oon Records in Japan. Joe released his debut e.p.”IN A WAY” in 2007, followed by his first single “HELLO!”.

“CLOSER” is his second single. It comes packaged with a 2009 Naruto Shippudden calendar and sticker as a sweet (pronounced suh weeet!) bonus!

Making this super quick as I am super busy! NYAF day 1 was amazing! All the cosplayers were so cute and luckily I could who most of them were regardless of my lack of Anime knowledge.

Can’t wait to see what tomorrow will be like since Saturday will be the busiest day of the convention. Sweet! I will have blog posts about today up later on so please be patient. We are all very tired but so pleased with the turn out.

Be sure to check out the gallery from the Cosplay Photoshoot Contest Day 1. Voting process will start Monday so get all your friends to vote for you! More »

Anime is definitely a catalyst for a lot of things from music to dance to fashion. With NYAF coming up, I’m decided that this and next round up will feature all anime music. There’s a lot out there and if it weren’t for these animes, some artists probably wouldn’t be as popular as they are.

I’ve chosen the list below after consulting a few friends on their favorite anime music. They’re very common and highly loved by a lot of people, including myself. It was really difficult just picking out 5 but I was able to narrow it down.

Also, I’m sorry to have missed last week’s. I’ve been so busy with NYAF! I will double the amount I do next week’s and the week after that. As always, enjoy! More »
