Ningin has interviewed BoA, the Wonder Girls, Utada, and many other wonderful Asian celebs. This interview with Rain felt bigger than all of those. For me, part of the reason why is because of what we’re interviewing him for, the Ninja Assassin movie – the first big budget Hollywood film with an Asian male lead and a mostly Asian cast. Plus, it’s Rain. There’s no bigger male Asian pop star in the world! I was actually a little nervous but, more excited than anything else. More »

While it’s considered downright rude to be asking a lady her age, I’ll be perfectly honest with you guys: Yesterday, I turned 25. To kick the honesty up a notch, I’d like to make it known that 25 is among the least sexy ages to turn. There’s nothing sexy about being 25. Unlike turning 21 in the US, it’s already been four years since I’ve been allowed to purchase alcohol, go to clubs and partake in sin. There is absolutely no debauchery left at 25 that I haven’t accomplished in my quarter of a century life. Unless you consider a personalized birthday card from my future husband and Ninja Assassin, Rain, the ability to rent cars in the state of California and my new concern for anti-aging beauty products, debaucherous… More »

Today has definitely been one of those “I love my job” type days. Since most of you guys never had the experience of doing a press junket and interviewing celebs, I thought it would be good to go through my entire three hour experience with Rain and the marketing team at Warner Bros. And what a great team they have at Warner Bros. Everyone was so nice, open and chatty. I wish every studio was like that. More »

I just came back from the Ninja Assassin screening at the Warner Bros private theater. It was a packed house full of press and other writers which, having gone to many advanced screenings for Asian movies, that’s a bit unusual. It’s also a sign that this isn’t just an Asian movie, but a super big Hollywood Blockbuster type fare. Waiting for the film to start, I was trying to think of the last time a movie with an Asian male lead had this kind of buzz leading the way. Really, there hasn’t been any. In addition to watching a movie, I was thinking perhaps I was watching history too. Well we got there early so there was a lot of time to think — don’t judge me! More »

November is shaping up to be quite a month. We have a new website launching just about every week. The mysterious Swandiary launches this Friday the 13th. We picked that day for a good reason which will be revealed soon enough. We’re also designating November to be the official month of Ninjas, the site’s namesake. In honor of Ninja month, there will be TONS of ninja related coverage and giveaways. What could those giveaways possibly be? You might want to check out the upcoming Warner Bros movie, Ninja Assassin, for some ideas. Then of course, there’s Jinra’s birthday being this Thursday. Expect champagne and special pins that day. The previously mentioned game system contests are schedule to start sometime this week. And if you live in Rhode Island, Wirebot is hosting a Guitar Hero tournament with cash prizes. Sounds random I know, but it’s part of a much bigger plan which we’ll get into later. More »

Rain is pulling some interesting moves! He’s barely shown these guys and he’s just now released their mini album. Although they did get some attention because Rain produced them, I wonder if it’s smart to release their mini album before letting them debut on stage. Perhaps Rain is figuring out where they stand among Kpop fans. More »

A new trailer for Ninja Assassin has been released through a youtuber named Keshen8. Well, maybe not. It’s more like a remake trailer with the actors replaced by legos. More »

I thought this was good story. Our favorite Ninja Assassin, Rain, was playing soccer with actual Manchester United players and some other kids from a local charity. That’s one interesting way to promote your upcoming movie.

Rain’s highly anticipated (or not) movie, Ninja Assassin has released a trailer and I must say that it looks awesome despite of some doubts I had before. More »

Last Friday, Rain announced he would join Jackie Chan’s Good Friend Concert in Beijing on Friday, May 1. Sounded like a great combo two days ago, but what about today? Let’s see… today the China Law Blog says “Jackie Chan Is A Know-Nothing Self-Loathing Racist”. Sing Tao News Network writes “Jackie Chan Deeply Disappointed Me”. And Taiwan’s Democratic Progressive Party said “Jackie Chan is unwelcome in Taiwan”. Ouch. Is this all because of booking Rain for the concert? More »

“I never thought that my relationship with food would result in me opening a restaurant,” says Sung Kang, acclaimed American actor and co-owner of Saketini in Brentwood, CA. But he gives credit where it’s due—to the special ladies in his life. Here’s a more introspective side of Sung Kang’s dinner table.

Sung Kang has developed a reputation for playing bad guys…most recently, he appeared as a car-racing thug on NBC’s Knight Rider. Click to watch the full episode.

But in real life, he talks softly and carries a big wok. Check out this video interview with journalist Sara Sohn: More »
