In Fireflies in the Garden, they may seem like the perfect, successful American family, with the father Charles Taylor (Willem Dafoe) being a university professor and soon to become the university president, son Michael Taylor (Ryan Renolds) being a successful romantic novel writer, daughter Ryne (Shannon Lucio) about to enter a prestigious law school and mother Lisa (Julia Roberts) finally graduating from university a decade after she entered due to raising her children.
