Although Square Enix had already released the release dates for the fourteenth installment of their highly renowned Final Fantasy series last week (various dates in September 2010 for Windows and various dates in March 2011 for the PS3 depending on the version and the region), the date for the beta test wasn’t announced until recently. I just wanted make a quick comment about the insane number of flashbacks Final Fantasy XIII has and wanted to ask if anyone else was feeling my pain? I am in absolute love with the storyline, but I can’t help but think it could have been told in more creative ways than the obscene amounts of flashbacks that appear every 20- 30 paces Lightening takes. From Wirebot:
We know how long and boring the beginning of Final Fantasy XIII is. We know how linear and uneventful our adventure starts. We know the battle system is extremely streamlined. We know a lot of things about the newest installment in the Final Fantasy series, and we know that not everyone is happy about it, but there is one thing we can agree on: the beautiful girls Square-Enix always delivers! My question to you is, who is hotter, Lightning or Vanille? More »

For most of us here, this week has been epic for the release of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIII. I’m not even much of a gamer and I know this much. I also know that despite the title, FF XIII is more fantasy than it is final. This week we’d like to make your fantasy come true by giving away a copy of Final Fantasy XIII. More »

From Wirebot:
Boss battles in Final Fantasy XIII are challenging and there’s nothing you can do about it. In the past if you couldn’t get past a particular monster you could do a little level grinding until your attributes beefed up enough to slay the baddie with ease. This is not the case in the newest installment, level caps eliminate the ability to grind and force you to rethink your strategy the next time around. Do you miss grinding or are you happy to see it go? More »

From Wirebot:
Final Fantasy XIII utilizes an Active Time Battle system for combat. We’ve seen version of this battle system in Final Fantasy VII: Advent children and also in plenty of non-Squre-Enix titles like this years PS3 exclusive White Knight Chronicles. The ultimate question here is, whether or not the ATB battle system works better than the traditional turn based combat from the past. What are your thoughts? More »
