From Ziggytek: Here’s some new pictures of what could possibly be the new Playstation 3 Slim from a Chinese gaming magazine, Gamewave and Best Buy Ads. These are unconfirmed and could be fake but it’s worth a look. It’s being rumored to be released next week, August 19th at GamesCom. Keep in mind, these are not official Sony PS3 Slim pictures. From Ziggytek: Based on reports from RTLinfo, Sony is planning to release a PlayStation 3 Slim at this year’s GamesCom expo in Cologne, Germany. Reports say that the specifications and features will remain the same but the design is the main focus and will probably be introduced at Sony’s pre-event press conference. More »

From Ziggytek: Looks like there might be a price cut for the Sony Playstation 3. Joystiq is reporting that during an overseas call with investors, Sony’s CFO and Executive VP stated that the cost of the Playstation has gone down 70 percent. That’s great news for everyone, if Sony does make a price cut. If not, then this is all BS. More »

Seems that Asian girl band comes in two flavors, super cute or super sexy. Why is that? You don’t hear much about the ones in between (are there any?) that doesn’t really care about the look, only care about the music type artists. Oh well, no complaints here, just making an observation.

I’ve been a big fan of Final Fantasy related material ever since 9 years ago. I’ve played through Final Fantasy VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2 and XII (incomplete) and both Kingdom Hearts. More »

Or so says this article. But then I read this article and go HUH . . .

I can understand the reluctance from South Korea’s side. I can sort of understand how some South Korean officials do not want everything to be “Japanised.” However, I can’t help but think, uh, sorry South Korea, but Japanese mangas, novels, and etcetera intrigue me more. Heck, even this entry just sort of proves from my side of the world that Japan rocks in certain areas. I admit that I am more biased towards Japanese products and media than I am towards South Korea’s, but I’ll blame that on my Japan-oriented hobbies. More »

Just mere hours ago, I had a Daewoo TV. Now that I have a new JVC TV, I just realised something: I own nothing that’s Korean-made, with the exception of my cellphone. Hahaha! Seriously! If I put all my electronics together, these are what I have:

* JVC TV (Nicknamed: Pita = Pain in the Arse) * Hitachi VHS * Panasonic DVD Player * Panasonic Stereo * Nintendo SNES * Nintendo GameCube * Sony PlayStation 1 * Sony PlayStation 2

No Korean-made products. I find it very ironic considering where I live. On the flip side, I love my new (well, second-hand) TV. HOMG. Playing video games on it will be a very smexy experience. I already tested it out with one game and am absolutely floored by the big, crisp graphical and audio output.

Okay not really but everyone was shocked to hear at E3 2008 that Square Enix will be taking FFXIII to multi-platform except for in Japan.

Some are pretty pissed that SE is pulling a 360 since they bought the PS3 specifically for FFXIII; however, Corporate Director Shinji Hashimoto doesn’t see it that way. Of course he wasn’t the one spending $300 to buy one.

I’d rather they not think of this as a “betrayal” or disappointment. It’s not like we’re canceling or delaying the PS3 version at all! It’s more of an added bonus for 360 fans. We won’t be putting them at a disadvantage in any way.

In the end, all FF lovers will give in and play the game but Sony lovers (like myself) are a bit disappointed with SE’s decision. We were all expecting FF to save Sony.

Sony’s recently-released third revision of the PSP touts a better, brighter screen, but at what cost? While the new screen eliminates the ghosting (smearing) effect with lower latency, an arguably worse problem seems to have popped up - interlacing (jagged appearance). The issue is systemic as it has been reported in all PSP-3000 units, and the interlacing effect is so prominent it can even be seen while navigating the PSP’s XMB operating system, not to mention any game with any sort of… motion. Joystiq reports that the problem is slightly less noticeably when the “Wide Color Space” option is turned off, but turning off the only reason to get the new PSP isn’t exactly the best fix.

When asked about future patches to fix the issue, Sony replied that the interlacing is a “feature” of the new LCD, and there are currently no plans to get rid of it in a firmware update as it is hardware-derived.

I’ve been looking to get a PSP Brite to replace my 1st generation fatty, but as one that opted for the PSP instead of the DS for its graphical superiority, this is the worst kind of news I can get. Did Sony seriously not think this was an issue during their testing phase? Or did they just not notice it? At any rate, calling a fault a “feature” is not convincing anybody, and I’ll be switching my attention back to the PSP-2000…
