With September done, another month ends in the world of Asian media. We had a good month here. We did the End of Summer Special and the Fall Asian TV Special in addition to numerous contests and giveaways. You also might be curious to know that one of the recently heartbroken winner used his (or her) prize to put two hearts together. It looks like Kim Hyun Joong’s immune system has reached its limits, many times over. The star from Boys Over Flowers and boy group SS501 had just been diagnosed with swine flu. Even without the virus though, he still lost around 12 lbs during filming and rarely slept more than a few hours a night. During and after the show he was busy with fan meets, instead of resting so he easily got sick. More »

September on Ningin is Heartbreaker month. Yes we are dedicating the entire month and maybe more to one of the most painful experiences a human being can have…because G-Dragon decided to make an album with that title. So in this case heartbreak isn’t that bad. If anything, I’m gonna bet you want to heartbroken this month, over and over again. One thing I love about being a SoCal citizen is that my Kpop dreams are never too far out of reach. No, I’m not pregnant with Se7en’s child, but thanks for asking. Instead, I got to see Wheesung, Clazziquai, SS501, Jewelry and other Kpop sensations perform live at the Victory Concert held at the Nokia Theater in LA last night. For concert goers last night, the Victory Concert was held in honor of Korea’s win against Venezuela in the 2009 World Baseball Classic. More »

So they finally announced the official cast which I’m hoping is a really bad joke. Honestly I knew all the supposed cast members before were just rumors but it gave me a little hope.

The cast for the Korean version of Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers) are: Actor Lee Min Ho as Goo Joon Pyo (Domyouji Tsukasa) SS501’s Kim Hyun Joong as Yoon Ji Hoon (Hanazawa Rui) Actor Kim Bum as So Lee Jung (Nishikado Sojiroh) T-Max’s Kim Joon as Song Yu Bin (Mimasaka Akira)

Urgh it breaks my heart but I guess Kim Hyun Joong isn’t a complete loss. He’s probably the biggest and the cutest star out of the 4 but I rather have Jae Joong~! There is no mention of who will play the lead female, Makino Tsukushi (go figure). I’m still hoping they’ll cast Lee Junki or Jae Joong so we can get some yaoi action, of course that’s just me being hopeful.

The 24 episode TV series will air on Mon – Tues after the drama “The World That They Live In” during the end of December. More »

The long awaited Korean version of drama hit series Hana Yori Dango will air on KBS 2TV in the last week of December. Finally! Honestly, I can’t believe I had to wait so damn long for Korea to catch up. Aren’t they the melodrama gods?

So far there’s been a lot of hype for the show as it is one of the most popular series in all of Asian due to predecessors Meteor Garden (Taiwan) and Hana Yori Dango (Japan; creator of the series). With so much pressure, they’ve gathered some big names to help record the mini series like renowned director Jeon Gi-Sang (Sassy Girl Chuhyang, My Girl) and writer Yoon Ji-Ryeon (Sharp #3).
