It’s been a super busy week for everyone here and for Asian pop news in general. So a quick recap, Jaebum quit 2PM and lands on the top of this week’s “worst week ever” list; The White On Rice movie came out on Friday and Ningin got an advance screener for review plus an interview with the director, David Boyle; Telia Tequila almost died; YG Entertainment has a new girl group, Lady Collection; Epik High is coming out with a super mega album; so are Do As Infinity and Maki Goto; and BoA is doing another collab with M-Flo. I feel like I’m forgetting something…oh yea, we launched a new website for NFL fans, BlitzNation.com. Speaking of which, there’s a contest over there for Madden 10 games and Xbox360/PS3 controllers. September on Ningin is Heartbreaker month. Yes we are dedicating the entire month and maybe more to one of the most painful experiences a human being can have…because G-Dragon decided to make an album with that title. So in this case heartbreak isn’t that bad. If anything, I’m gonna bet you want to heartbroken this month, over and over again. Since we aim to please, we have lots and lots of heartbreak to spread around - albums, posters, and collectible memorabilia. So let the epic heartbreak begin. More »

I know I’m a bit later than usual with this post. Business is well, keeping me busy lately. That’s because we’re about to undergo quite a lot of expansion. Sometime very soon, we’ll be launching NFL football communities, BlitzNation.com. So NFL fans, you’re in for a real treat. There’s going to be lots of promos and giveaways and pins when that happens. We’re nearing the end of August and another week closer towards the end of summer (for those in the northern hemisphere). I don’t know about you, but the seasons change a bit too fast for me. I never seem to have enough time to finish what I’m doing. In any case, I hope you guys enjoyed your summer with Ningin. We never gave out so many prizes and rewards in such a short period of time. I feel like if I wasn’t doing Ningin, I should start an Asian music, DVD, and memorabilia store. Hmm, maybe one day. Ok back on topic. This was a pretty intense week of EXP action with the top three winners coming down to the wire. In fact, 2nd-4th place were all within a couple hundred points of each other. I feel like everyday I’m writing some sort of announcement about prize winners. That’s a good thing for loyal Ningin followers! Yesterday, I wrote a post about changes to our monthly and weekly giveaways. To recap, we’re doing away with monthly prizes and increasing the value of weekly prizes. So far so good for our little Summer Reward promo. 12 days of July and 12 different happy winners! Looks like SNSD has a small lead over the other artists in our album pool. I wasn’t sure how big a fanbase of Final Fantasy people we have on Ningin when I decided to give out these posters. Turns out, a pretty big one based on the amount of points collected this past week, 15206 in total, the most points for one week since we started this promo. Next week’s prize is a one week special – Final Fantasy Advent Children posters. So the top three finishers for this coming week will have the option of choosing those posters or a BoA poster. We’re also starting to stockpile more posters of different artists and movies. So future weekly prizes will give the winner options as opposed to just BoA posters. More »

I’ve been noticing that the weekly competitions have been more intense since we first started with more people trying hard to win the top 3 spots. This makes me happy to see. Since the competition is going up a bit, we’re going to try and increase the prizes a bit too. We’ll be offering more variety for both the weekly and monthly prizes. Instead of just music cds, you can now also select from a list of movies and anime DVDs and other types of merchandise. I’ll go into more detail about that in a later post. More »

Twice now I’ve seen a last minute Saturday night push by someone to make it into the top 3. This time it’s ryu00 that knocked out Choochi. (The first was on 5/3.) Perhaps Choochi was being nice and let ryu00 win since she already won last week?
